Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-00-530-052 Prepare the External Gearbox for Movement

      NOTE

      The external gearbox is installed on the IAE 1F10021 Storage stand storage stand with IAE 1F10023 Gearbox adapter G/B adapter and IAE 1F10011 Handling fixture holding fixture. Refer to TASK 72-00-60-020-003-002 if necessary, for the removal of the external gearbox module.
    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install the transportation fittings on the gearbox.

      2. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-090) on the hydraulic pump drive pad. Attach with the four nuts and washers. Torque to 85 to 95 1bfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).

      3. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-160) on the oil pressure pump pad.

      4. Install the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-260) on the free hole near the oil pressure pump pad.

      5. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-130) on the permanent magnet alternator (PMA) shaft.

      6. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-170) on the starter drive pad.

      7. Install the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-200) on the air breather of the deoiler casing.

      8. Install the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-180), the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-190) and the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-230) on the free flanges of the deoiler casing.

      9. Install the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-210) on the transmission assembly (angle gearbox/intermediate case surface).

      10. Install the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-220) on the housing of the adapter which attach the oil scavenge tube to the angle gearbox.

      11. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-250) on the oil tank flange.

      12. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-060) on the integrated drive generator system (IDGS) drive pad. Attach with the eight bolts and washers. Torque to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).

      13. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-140) on the oil scavenge pump pad.

      14. Install the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-230) on the housing of the oil scavenge tube from the main gearbox.

      15. Install the plug Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-240) on the housing of the strainer suction.

      16. Install the cover Transportation Fittings (72-60-03, 01-150) on the fuel pump drive pad.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-00-530-053 Install the Shipping Adapter on the External Gearbox

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Prepare IAE 5F10048 Gearbox handling adapter 1 off for lifting of the gearbox.

      2. Open IAE 6F10045 Shipping container 1 off as specified in the card, part of the shipping container.

      3. Fully release, but not remove, the four bolts which attach the shipping adapter to the support of the shipping container.

      4. Remove the two hexagon nuts from the eyebolt. Remove the eyebolt from the storage hole for shipment.

      5. Install the eyebolt in to the hole for gearbox lifting at position D. Attach with the two hexagon nuts.

    3. Attach a crane to the top of the eyebolt. Lift the shipping adapter from the shipping container.

    4. Move the shipping adapter on the gearbox.

      1. Install the shipping adapter to the external gearbox.

      2. Lower the shipping adapter until the bracket and the two links of the adapter are in position on the gearbox casing.

      3. Put the bracket between the front lugs in position A. Put the link between the front lugs in position B and the other link between the rear lugs in position C.

      4. Align the hole of the bracket and the holes of the two links with the holes of the lugs.

        1. Install the two pins to the front lugs in positions A and B.

        2. Put the pin in to the bushing on the front lug.

        3. Push fully the pin through the bushing and the spherical bearing by hand.

        4. Align the hole on the pin flange with the hole on the front lug adjacent to the bushing.

        5. Install the bolt which attach the pin to the front lug. Torque to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).

        6. Do the Step to Step again for the other pin.

        1. Install the pin to the rear lugs in position C.

        2. Put the pin in to the bushing on the lug.

        3. Push fully the pin through the bushing and the spherical bearing of the link by hand.

        4. Install the washer and the pin securing bolt in to the hole on the boss adjacent to the lug.

        5. Make sure that the bolt engages with the groove of the pin. Torque to 85 to 95 lbfin (9.604 to 10.734 Nm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-00-530-054 Move the External Gearbox from the Storage Stand in to the Shipping Container

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Disconnect the external gearbox from the storage stand.

      2. Remove the two safety pins from the handling fixtures.

      3. Loosen the rotating block and release the two locking rods from the bosses on the angle gearbox.

      4. Lift the gearbox with a crane until the gearbox adapter is fully released from the handling fixtures.

      5. Remove the two handling fixtures from the gearbox.

    3. Move the gearbox to the shipping container.

    4. Slowly lower the gearbox in to the shipping container.

    5. Align the four bolts of the shipping adapter with the threaded holes on the support of the shipping container.

    6. Continue to lower the gearbox until the bolts are fully engaged in to the threaded holes. Tighten the four bolts.

    7. Remove the crane from the top of the eyebolt.

    8. Remove the two hexagon nuts from the eyebolt. Remove the eyebolt and install it in to the storage hole for shipment. Attach the eyebolt with the two hexagon nuts.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-00-530-055 Put the Desiccant in to the Shipping Container

    2. Open the container of CoMat 12-022 DESICCANT SELF INDICATING. Remove the humidity indicator and put in to position in the shipping container.

    3. CAUTION

      THE PROPERTIES OF THE DESICCANT WILL DECREASE IF EXPOSED TO MOIST CONDITION. WHEN REMOVED FROM THE CONTAINER, THE DESICCANT MUST BE PUT IN TO POSITION AND THE SHIPPING CONTAINER SEALED IN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES.

      Put the desiccant in to position in the shipping container.

    4. Write on the instruction card the quantity of the desiccant given.

    5. Put the instruction card in to position in the shipping container.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-00-530-056 Put the Applicable Gearbox Module Records in to the Shipping Container

    2. Put the gearbox module log book and log card in to CoMat 12-004 P.V.C. SHEET.

    3. Put the log book and log card in to the internal pocket of the shipping container.

    4. Close the shipping container as specified in the card, part of the shipping container.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-00-530-057 After the Shipping Container is Sealed Do the Subsequent Checks

    2. Examine the humidity indicator to make sure it is safe at the times shown: 24 hours, 7days and then regular 28 day cycles.

    3. If the humidity indicator changes color, from blue to pink, replace the desiccant. Refer to Step, Step and Step.
