    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Machine the bore.

        1. The diameter must be between 2.9118 in. to 2.9134 in. (73.960 mm and 74.000 mm) after the removal of the damage.

        2. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-220-168 Examine the Gearbox Casing

      1. Inspect the casing for cracks in the area of the bore.

      2. Use a magnifying glass.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-330-123 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-350-167 Install the Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. WARNING

DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.

        WARNING

HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.

        WARNING

IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.

Increase the temperature of the casing and/or decrease the bushing.

        1. Use an oven and/or a freezer.

        2. Do not increase the temperature of the housing above 284 deg F (140 deg C).

        3. Do not decrease the temperature of the bushing below minus 58 deg F (minus 50 deg C).

      1. NOTE

The difference in temperature between the parts must be 216 deg F (120 deg C).

Remove the casing from the oven and/or the bushing from the freezer.

      2. Use protective gloves.

      1. CAUTION

INSTALL BUSHING IN MACHINED BORE IMMEDIATELY AFTER REMOVAL FROM FREEZER, OTHERWISE BUSHING CANNOT BE CORRECTLY INSTALLED.

Install the bushing into machined bore.

        1. Use an arbor press.

        2. Give sufficient back-up support at bushing bore area, to prevent casing distortion when you install the bushing.

    3. Let the parts get the ambient temperature.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-320-139 Machine the Inner Diameters of the Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Machine the inner diameters of the bushing.

        1. The dimension must be between 2.7553 in. to 2.7561 in. (69.985 mm to 70.004 mm).

        2. Deleted.

        3. Chamfer where necessary.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-330-124 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces of the bushing.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-21-350-168 Identify the Repair
