    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Mask the areas of the housing not to be plated.

      1. Do the nickel plating.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-33-08-300-503.

      3. Plate to a sufficient thickness to permit the machining to the last dimensions indicated in the reference figure.

      4. The plating out of the closed area is permitted but must be removed.

    3. Remove the mask.

      1. Clean and dry the housing.

      2. Flush with cold water.

      3. Flush with hot water.

      4. Dry with air blast.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-370-063 De-embrittle the Housing

      1. Put the housing into an oven at 266 deg F to 302 deg F (130 deg C to 150 deg C) for 12 hours.

      2. Do this process as soon as possible, in less than 4 hours, after the plating.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-220-078 Examine the Housing

      1. Do the visual inspection of the plating for finish, cracks and adhesion.

      2. Plating must have a constant color.

      3. No circumferential cracks are permitted.

      4. No rough and blistering are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-320-078 Machine the Mounting Face of the Fuel Pump Drive Housing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the mounting face.

      2. The dimension must be between 1.5728 in. to 1.5768 in. (39.950 mm to 40.050 mm). FIR in relation to surface A and diameter B, C. Clean up the edges of groove and chamfer where necessary.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-220-079 Examine the Nickel Plated Area

      1. Do the visual inspection of the plated area for cracks and adhesion.

      2. The natural network crack, emphasized by grinding, is permitted.

      1. Measure the thickness of the plating.

      2. Do not accept a thickness of less than 0.0006 in. (0.015 mm), after the last machining.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-350-078 Install the New Pin and the New Inserts

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Verify that a tight fit exists between the outer diameter of the new pin/inserts and the corresponding holes in the housing.

      1. Heat the housing adjacent to the holes.

      2. Use the Hot air gun 1 off.

    4. Drift in a new pin.
