Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-350-001 Remove the Insert

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Remove the damaged insert(s).

        1. Drill the inner diameter of the insert between the keys and the internal thread for not more than 2.6 mm (0.102 in.) depth. Use a 9.0 mm (0.354 in.) drill.

      2. Bend with a punch and remove the keys.

      3. Use a Drill puller to remove the insert.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-100-001 Clean the Part

      1. Clean the thread.

      2. Use a clean dry air blast to remove all swarf.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-200-001 Examine the Part After the Insert Removal

      1. Visually examine the part.

      2. Ensure that the threads are clean and free from damage and swarf.

      3. Reject if damage is found.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-330-001 Restore the Damaged Anodic Treatment

      1. Check the surface.

      2. Do the touch up process if the anodic treatment has been damaged by insert removal.

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-350-002 Install the New Insert

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Install the insert.

      2. Screw in by hand the new 4T0318 INSERT - SCREW THREAD in the adapter threaded hole.

      3. Align the keys with the broach seats on the adapter.

      4. Make sure that the insert is flush both side of the flange.

      5. Push the keys into the broached seats.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-330-002 Restore the Damaged Anodic Treatment

      1. Check the surface.

      2. Do the touch up process if the anodic treatment has been damaged by insert installation.

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-220-001 Inspect the Insert

      1. Do an inspection of the new 4T0318 INSERT - SCREW THREAD.

      2. Refer to the Inspection-001 TASK 72-60-25-200-001.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-350-003 Identify the Repair

      1. Vibration peen VRS5671 adjacent to the Part Number.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501, SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001.

      3. Use vibro-engraving equipment

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-330-003 Restore the Damaged Anodic Treatment

      1. Check the surface.

      2. Do the touch up process on the marking area.

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.
