Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-320-071 Machine the Bearing Seat of the Fuel Pump Drive Housing

      1. Machine the bearing seat

      2. The diameter must be between 2.9118 in. to 2.9134 in. (73.960 mm to 74.000 mm) after the removal of the damage. FIR in relation to Diameter A and Surface B. Remove all damage and wear.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-220-073 Examine the Fuel Pump Drive Housing

      1. Inspect the housing for cracks in the area of the bearing seat.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-330-064 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces.

      2. Refer to SPM (TASK 70-38-02-100-501).

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-350-073 Install the Bushing

      CAUTION

MAKE SURE THAT THE LEAD IN CHAMFER OF THE BUSHING POINTS AWAY FROM THE DRIFT.
    2. CAUTION

DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.
HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN, IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.
IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER, FOR 10 MINUTES, IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSISTS.

Install the bushing on the IAE 3F10336 Drift, bushing (dia 67) 1 off.

Increase the temperature of the housing and/or decrease the temperature of the assembled drift and bushing.

      2. Use anOven and/or a Freezer.

        NOTE

The difference in temperature between the parts must be 216 deg F (120 deg C).
Do not increase the temperature of the housing above 284 deg F (140 deg C).
Do not decrease the temperature of the assembled drift and bushing below -58 deg F (-50 deg C)
    3. Remove the housing from the Oven and/or the assembled drift and bushing from the Freezer

      1. CAUTION

INSTALL BUSHING IN MACHINED BORE IMMEDIATELY AFTER REMOVAL FROM FREEZER; OTHERWISE BUSHING CANNOT BE CORRECTLY INSTALLED.

Install the bushing into machined bore

      2. Use IAE 3F10336 Drift, bushing (dia 67) and an Arbor press. Give sufficient back-up support, at bushing bore area, to prevent housing distortion when you install the bushing.

    4. Allow the parts to reach ambient temperature

    5. Remove the drift

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-320-072 Machine the Inner Diameter of the Bushing

      1. Machine the inner diameter of the bushing.

      2. The dimensions must be between 2.7553 in. to 2.7561 in. (69.985 mm to 70.004 mm). FIR in relation to Diameter A and Surface B. Chamfer where necessary.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-330-065 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces of the bushing.

      2. Refer to SPM (TASK 70-38-02-100-501).

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-25-350-074 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Record the Repair.

      2. Vibro engrave VRS5054 adjacent to the part number

      3. Remove the metal lifted by marking. Use vibrating marking pencil
