Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-320-111 Machine the Impeller Seat of the Deoiler Housing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine diameter of impeller seat.

      2. Seat diameter must be between 3.3012 in. and 3.2972 in. (83.85 mm and 83.75 mm) after removal of damage.

      3. Remove all damage and wear.

      4. Keep removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove damage.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-220-192 Examine the Deoiler Housing

      1. Do fluorescent penetrant inspection for cracks.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

      3. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-330-086 Nickel Plate the Impeller Seat of the Deoiler Housing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Mask areas of deoiler housing not to be plated.

      1. Do the nickel plating.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-33-08-300-503.

      3. Plate to a thickness to permit machining to last dimensions.

      4. Plating out of the seat diameter is permitted but must be removed.

    3. Remove the mask.

      1. Clean and dry the support.

      2. Flush with cold water.

      3. Flush with hot water.

      4. Dry with air blast.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-370-084 De-Embrittle the Deoiler Housing

      1. Put housing into the oven at 241 deg F to 260 deg F (116 deg C to 127 deg C) for 60 to 90 minutes.

      2. Do this procedure in less than 4 hours after plating.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-220-193 Examine the Deoiler Housing

      1. Do visual inspection of the plating for finish, cracks and adhesion.

      2. Plating must have a constant colour.

      3. No circumferential cracks are permitted.

      4. No roughness and blisters are permitted.

      1. Machine diameter.

      2. Last dimension of seat diameter must be between 3.2953 in. and 3.2933 in. (83.70 mm and 83.65 mm).

      3. Clean edges of the groove and chamfer where necessary.

      1. Do visual inspection of the plated area for cracks and adhesion.

      2. Natural network of crack, made more apparent by grinding, is permitted.

      1. Make a mark VRS5085 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501 and SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001 .
