Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-320-086 Machine the Deoiler Impellor

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the deoiler impellor.

      2. Remove all damage and wear.

      3. Keep removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.

      4. The preplating diameter must be 2.3646 to 2.3746 in. (60.062 to 60.314 mm), surface rough must be 32 microinch (0.8 micron) before plating.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-210-058 Nital Etch the Front Hub Inner Diameter of the Deoiler Impellor

      1. Do the Nital etch on the deoiler impellor hub front I.D. to find sign of burned metal.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-21-02-210-501.

      3. Machine the deoiler impellor if there is signs of burnt metal.

      4. Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-370-071 Do the De-embrittlement Treatment

      1. Put the Deoiler Impellor into oil at 284 deg F (140 deg C) for 2 hours.

      2. Use a hot oil tank.

      3. Do this process as soon as possible in less than 2 hours after each etch.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-380-058 Shot-peen the part

      1. Shot-peen diameter must be plated to an intensity 0.008 to 0.012A.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-04-300-503.

    2. NOTE

      Before shot-peen, properly mask all areas not to be peened. Shot-peening visually check, area to be plated must be completely shot-peened.

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Mask properly the areas not to be plated.

      1. Do the chromium plating.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-02-330-501.

      3. Plate to a sufficient thickness to permit the machining to the last dimension.

      4. The plating outside of the enclosed area is permissible but must be removed.

    3. Remove the mask.

      1. Clean and dry the deoiler impellor.

      2. Flush with cold water.

      3. Flush with hot water.

      4. Dry with air blast.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-370-072 De-embrittle the Deoiler Impellor

      1. Put the deoiler impellor into the oven at 349 to 399 deg F (176 to 204 deg C) for 5 hours.

      2. Do this procedure as soon as possible in less than 4 hours after the plating.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-220-156 Examine the Plating

      1. Do the visual inspection of the plating for finish, cracks and adhesion.

      2. Plating must have constant color.

      3. No bubbles or sign of burned metal permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-320-087 Machine the part

      1. Machine the part.

      2. The last dimensions of the diameter must be 2.3626 to 2.3638 in. (60.010 to 60.040 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-220-158 Examine the Chromium Plated Area

      1. Do the visual inspection of the chromium plated area for cracks and adhesion.

      2. Use a 5X magnifying glass.

      3. The natural network crack, emphasized by grinding, is permitted.

      1. Measure the thickness of the plating.

      2. Do not accept thickness less than 0.001 in. (0.025 mm), after last machining.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-440-064 Balance Deoiler Impellor

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Balance the deoiler impellor.

      2. Dynamic unbalance must not exceed 0.014 Oz.in. (10 g.mm) max each side when supported on diameter A and diameter B.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-29-350-086 Record the Repair

      1. Vibro-engrave VRS5667 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Remove the metal lifted marking the number.
