Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-320-083 Machine the Pin Seat in the Support Gearbox Casing

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Machine bore.

      2. Diameter must be between 0.31338 in. and 0.31260 in. (7.960 mm and 7.940 mm) after removal of pin.

      3. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-220-104 Examine the Gearbox Casing

      1. Inspect casing for cracks in the area of the bore.

      2. Use a magnifying glass.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-330-074 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply chromate conversion coating to machined surfaces.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-320-084 Produce a Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Produce a bushing.

      2. Outside diameter must be between 0.31397 in. and 0.31358 in. (7.975 mm and 7.965 mm).

      3. Deleted.

      1. Apply chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-350-089 Install the Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. WARNING

        DO NOT TOUCH HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED. PUT THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED GET MEDICAL AID IF PAIN OR BLISTERING CONTINUES.

        Increase temperature of casing and/or decrease temperature of bushing.

      2. Use an oven and/or a freezer.

      3. Do not increase temperature of housing above 284 deg F (140 deg C).

      4. Do not decrease temperature of bushing below minus 58 deg F (minus 50 deg C).

      1. NOTE

        The difference in temperature between the parts must be 216 deg F (120 deg C).

        Remove casing from oven and/or bushing from freezer.

      2. Use protective gloves.

      1. CAUTION

        INSTALL BUSHING IN MACHINED BORE IMMEDIATELY AFTER REMOVAL FROM FREEZER, OTHERWISE BUSHING CANNOT BE CORRECTLY INSTALLED.

        Put bushing into machined bore.

      2. Use an arbor press.

      3. Give sufficient back-up support at bushing bore area, to prevent casing distortion when you install bushing.

    3. Let the parts get the ambient temperature.

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Machine inner diameters of bushing.

      2. Dimension must be between 0.19606 in. and 0.19567 in. (4.980 mm and 4.970 mm).

      3. Chamfer where necessary.

      4. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-330-075 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply chromate conversion coating to machined surfaces of bushing.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-350-091 Install the New Pin

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Install new pin.

      2. Use an arbor press.

      3. Give sufficient back-up support at pin seat area, to prevent casing distortion when you install pin.

      1. Make a mark VRS5114 adjacent to the part number.
