Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-320-065 Machine the Left Bearing Bore in the Angle Gearbox Support

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the left bearing bore.

      2. The diameter must be between 2.9118 in. to 2.9134 in. (73.960 mm and 74.000 mm) after the removal of the damage.

      3. If the diameter B is damaged refer to zone E.

    3. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-220-083 Examine the Angle Gearbox Support

      1. Inspect the support for cracks in the area of the left bearing bore.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-330-062 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-350-072 Install the Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. CAUTION

MAKE SURE THAT THE LEAD IN CHAMFER OF THE BUSHING POINTS AWAY FROM THE DRIFT.

Install the bushing on the IAE 3F10336 Drift, bushing (dia 67) 1 off.

      1. WARNING

DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT PARTS WITHOUT PROTECTIVE GLOVES.
HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE REDDENING AND BLISTERING OF THE SKIN IF THE HANDS ARE NOT PROTECTED.
IMMERSE THE CONTACTED AREA IN COLD WATER FOR 10 MINUTES IF THE SKIN IS BURNED. IMMEDIATELY GET MEDICAL AID IF PAIN OR BLISTERING PERSIST.

        NOTE

The difference in temperature between the parts must be 216 deg F (120 deg C).

Increase the temperature of the support and/or decrease the temperature of the assembled drift and bushing.

      2. Use an Oven and/or a Freezer.

      3. Do not increase the temperature of the housing above 248 deg F (120 deg C).

      4. Do not decrease the temperature of the assembled drift and bushing below -58 deg F (-50 deg C).

      1. Remove the support from the oven and/or the assembled drift and bushing from the freezer.

      2. Use protective gloves.

      1. CAUTION

INSTALL BUSHING IN MACHINED BORE IMMEDIATELY AFTER REMOVAL FROM FREEZER, OTHERWISE BUSHING CANNOT BE CORRECTLY INSTALLED.

Install the bushing into machined seat.

      2. Give sufficient back-up support at bushing seat area, to prevent support distortion when you install the bushing.

    4. Let the parts get the ambient temperature.

    5. Remove the drift.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-320-066 Machine the Inner Diameter of the Bushing

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine the inner diameter of the bushing.

      2. The dimension must be between 2.7553 in. to 2.7561 in. (69.985 mm to 70.004 mm). Chamfer where necessary.

      3. If diameter B is damaged refer to zone E.

      4. Deleted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-32-330-063 Apply the Chromate Conversion Coating

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the machined surfaces of the bushing.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-22-350-073 Identify the Repair

      1. Make a mark VRS5123 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501, SUBTASK 70-09-00-400-001 .
