Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-33-350-064 Remove the Insert

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Apply the Removal tool 1 off into the insert.

      2. Drive the Removal tool 1 off into the insert at approximately a quarter of a coil from the end of the insert.

      1. Arrange the Removal tool 1 off into the insert.

      2. Use a hammer to hit the head of the tool lightly to dig the blade into the top of the coil of the insert.

      1. Complete the removal of the insert.

      2. Bearing down hard on the handle of the tool.

        Turn the tool slowly counter-clockwise.

        Maintain a hard pressure on the handle when the insert backs out.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-33-350-065 Install the New Insert

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Put the insert on the tool.

      2. Put the new insert on the tip of the Installation tool 1 off.

      1. Put the tool with the insert.

      2. Put the tool with the new insert into the threaded hole.

      1. Install the insert into the hole.

      2. Install the new insert into the hole.

        Turn the handle clockwise.

        Install the insert 1 to 1,5 pitch below surface.

      1. Break the tangs.

      2. Break the insert tang off at notch.

        Use a tang Tang removal tool 1 off.

        Remove broken tangs from blind holes with a magnetized rod.

      1. Do a crack test on the repaired area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-33-220-097 Inspect the Insert

      1. Do an inspection of the new insert.
