General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved CoMat 10-058 PENETRATING OIL before the removal of threaded parts and parts with an interference fit. Let the parts soak before removal.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

In this TASK it can be necessary to refer from one illustration to other illustrations. If this is necessary, the illustrations are identified by the 4th and 5th element numbers only - for example Fig 990-017.

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-60-42-040-051 Remove the Radial Coupling Shaft and the Oil Duct

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the retaining ring and the radial coupling shaft from the radial gearshaft.

    3. Install the driving gear assembly on IAE 1F10087 Base 1 off with the radial gear support to the top.

      4. Remove the lock washer and the segment.

      1. Install IAE 1F10106 Puller 1 off on the radial gearshaft. Attach the puller to the lock washer with a threaded end.

      2. Turn the nut of the puller until the lock washer and the segment are removed from the radial gearshaft.

      3. Remove the lock washer from the puller.

    5. Release and remove the nut from the radial gearshaft. Use IAE 1F10104 Hand wrench 1 off.

    6. Remove the driving gear assembly from the base.

    7. Turn the driving gear assembly on to IAE 1F10207 Base 1 off.

    8. Install IAE 1F10103 Pusher 1 off in to the radial gearshaft. Make sure that the lugs of the pusher engage with the internal spline of the radial gearshaft.

    9. Remove the oil duct from the internal of the radial gearshaft.

    10. NOTE

      The parts are removed in this SUBTASK must be installed in TASK 72-60-40-440-001 after the installation of the driving gear assembly on the angle gearbox.

      Remove the driving gear assembly from the base.

    2. SUBTASK 72-60-42-040-052 Remove the Bevel Radial Gearshaft from the Radial Gear Support

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install IAE 1F10099 Base 1 off on vise.

    3. Install the angle gearbox driving bevel gear assembly on the base with the radial gear support to the bottom. Attach the radial gear support to the base with the hexagon head capscrews.

    4. Remove the four self locking nuts which attach the bearing housing and the outer race of the roller bearing to the radial gear support.

    5. Remove the bevel radial gearshaft with the ball bearing and the bearing housing from the radial gear support.

    6. Remove the shim from the outer race of the roller bearing.

    7. Remove the outer race of the roller bearing from the radial gear support. Use IAE 1F10159 Puller 1 off.

    8. Remove the radial gear support from the base.

    3. SUBTASK 72-60-42-040-053 Remove the Lock Washer and the Segment from the Nut Washer

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install IAE 1F10087 Base 1 off on vise.

    3. Turn the bevel radial gearshaft with the lock washer to the top and move by hand the bearing housing against the gear teeth.

    4. Align the spline of the adapter in the base with the internal spline of the gearshaft. Install the bevel radial gearshaft on the base with the lock washer to the top. Make sure that the roller bearing is correctly installed in to the bush on the base.

      5. Install IAE 1F10097 TBD 1 off on the lock washer.

      1. Open the levers of the puller.

      2. Put the adapter in to the ID of the gearshaft.

      3. Turn clockwise the pusher to engage the levers with the tabs of the lock washer.

    6. Turn clockwise the lead screw of the puller until the lock washer is fully removed from the nut washer.

    7. Remove the puller with the lock washer from the bevel radial gearshaft. Open the levers and remove the lock washer from the puller.

    8. Remove the segment from the lock washer.

    4. SUBTASK 72-60-42-040-054 Remove the Nut Washer from the Bevel Radial Gearshaft

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Align the lugs of IAE 1F10095 Wrench 1 off with the slots of the nut washer. Install the wrench on the nut washer.

    3. Turn counterclockwise the wrench until the nut washer is fully removed from the bevel radial gearshaft. Use standard wrench.

    4. Remove the wrench. Remove the nut washer from the gearshaft.

    5. Remove the bevel radial gearshaft from the base.

    5. SUBTASK 72-60-42-040-055 Remove the Bearings and the Bearing Housing from the Bevel Radial Gearshaft

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Put IAE 1F10089 Half ring 2 off around and below the ball bearing.

    3. Install the half rings and the bevel radial gearshaft on IAE 1F10091 Base 1 off.

    4. Install IAE 1F10094 Pusher 1 off in to the ID of the gearshaft. Push the pusher until the bevel radial gearshaft is fully removed from the inner race of the roller bearing and from the ball bearing. Use Arbor Press or equivalent.

    5. Remove the pusher. Remove the half rings and the bevel radial gearshaft from the base.

    6. Remove the bearing housing from the bevel radial gearshaft.

    7. Turn the bevel radial gearshaft. Put the half rings around and below the inner race of the remaining roller bearing.

    8. Install the half rings and the bevel radial gearshaft on the base.

    9. Install IAE 1F10090 Pusher 1 off in to the ID of the gearshaft. Push the pusher until the bevel radial gearshaft is fully removed from the inner race of the remaining roller bearing. Use the arbor press or equivalent.

    10. Remove the pusher. Remove the half rings and the bevel radial gearshaft from the base.
