SUBTASK 72-60-43-320-051 Machine the Inner Diameter of the Diaphragm
No cracks are permitted.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-24-01-240-501.
Do a magnetic particle inspection for cracks.
SUBTASK 72-60-43-240-053 Examine the Diaphragm
Refer to Figure.
Do the nickel plating.
Plate to a sufficient thickness to permit machining to the last dimensions.
Plating not in the inner diameter area is permitted but must be removed.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-05-300-503.
Mask the areas of the diaphragm not to be plated.
SUBTASK 72-60-43-330-051 Nickel Plate the Inner Diameter of the Diaphragm
Use a Furnace.
Heat the diaphragm to 349 to 400 deg F (176 to 204 deg C) for 4 hours.
SUBTASK 72-60-43-370-051 De-embrittle the Diaphragm
Refer to Figure.
Clean the edges of the groove and chamfers, where necessary.
Use a Grinding machine.
Machine the inner diameter of the diaphragm.

Use a Magnifying glass, 4x.
A natural network crack, emphasized by grinding, is permitted.
Do a visual inspection of the plated areas for cracks or adhesion.

Use a Vibrating marking pencil.
Remove the metal which is lifted by vibro engraving.
Vibro engrave VRS5022 adjacent to the part number.
