Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-110-057 Clean the Upper and Lower Air Cooling Duct Assemblies

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Clean the areas around the cracks or the wear area.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

      3. Keep accurately to the cleaning policy as described, to avoid damage to the titanium.

      4. Clean the areas around the cracks on the two sides of the upper and lower air cooling duct assemblies.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-067 Weld Repair the Upper and Lower Air Cooling Duct Assemblies

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Tungsten inert gas weld the cracks on the two sides of the upper and lower air cooling duct assemblies.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

      3. Use protective gas equipment for purity of welds.

      4. Use CoMat 03-246 WELDING MATERIAL to repair cracks on tubes.

      5. Use CoMat 03-247 WELDING MATERIAL to repair cracks on housing.

      6. Use CoMat 03-246 WELDING MATERIAL to repair cracks in joints between housing and tubes.

      1. Tungsten inert gas build-up weld the upper and lower air cooling duct assemblies.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

      3. Use protective gas equipment for purity of welds.

      4. Use CoMat 03-246 WELDING MATERIAL to repair wear on tubes.

      5. Use CoMat 03-247 WELDING MATERIAL to repair wear on housing.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-230-060 Examine the Welded Areas for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      3. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-068 Dress the Welded Areas

      1. Dress welds smooth on repaired surfaces.

      2. Use files or hand held stones.

      3. No raised material is permitted on repaired surface.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-069 Heat Treat the Upper and Lower Air Cooling Duct Assemblies

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Heat treat the upper and lower air cooling duct assemblies.

      2. Use Vacuum furnace bottom loading for 2 hours at 887 deg F (475 deg C).

      3. Argon or vacuum atmosphere is acceptable.

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-230-061 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      3. No cracks are permitted.
