This TASK describes the repair of the support assemblies with subsequent separated items as follows:

Replacement of the self locking nuts, refer to Step and to Step.

Replacement of the build rivets, refer to Step and to Step.

Replacement of the half loop clamp assemblies refer to Step and to Step.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK number are in the SPM.

NOTE

For more equipment and materials necessary to do this repair, refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501 and SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.
Equivalent equipment may be used.

NOTE

For repair of the support assemblies use the quantity of repair parts as necessary.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-075 Remove the Damaged Self Locking Nuts

      1. Remove the damaged self locking nuts.

      1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-076 Remove the Damaged Blind Rivets

      1. Drill off the blind rivet heads.

      1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      2. Do not damage the support assemblies.

      2. Hit lightly the remainder of the shaft and dowel.

      1. Use minimal force to prevent damage to the support assemblies.

    3. SUBTASK 75-24-49-230-068 Examine the Local Surfaces for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      1. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      2. No cracks are permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-077 Install the New Self Locking Nuts

    1. Install the new self locking nuts.

    5. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-078 Install the New Blind Rivets

      1. Install the new blind rivets.

      1. For riveting refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    6. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-079 Remove the Damaged Half Loop Clamps

      1. Remove the blind rivets.

      1. Refer to Step.

    2. Remove the half loop clamps from the support assemblies.

    7. SUBTASK 75-24-49-230-069 Examine the Half Loop Clamp Assemblies for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      1. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

      2. No cracks are permitted.

    8. SUBTASK 75-24-49-350-080 Install the Half Loop Clamp Assemblies

      1. Install the half loop clamp assemblies with the blind rivets on to the support assemblies.

      1. Make sure that the half loop clamps are aligned correctly before installing.

      2. For riveting refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    2. Install the new self locking nuts if necessary.

    9. SUBTASK 75-24-49-220-087 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Visually examine the quality of the machine riveting and the safety of the joints.

      1. For acceptance standards refer to SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

      2. Use illuminated comparator magnifier.
