Refer to Figure.
Drive the Extracting Tool (1227-6) into the insert at approximately a quarter of a coil from the end of the insert.
Apply the extracting tool into the insert.
Hit the head of the tool lightly to dig the blade into the top of the coil of the insert.
Use a hammer.
Arrange the Extracting Tool (1227-6) into the insert.
Bearing down hard on the handle of the tool. Turn the tool slowly counterclockwise. Maintain a hard pressure on the handle as the insert backs out.
Complete the removal of the insert.
SUBTASK 79-11-41-350-058 Remove the Damaged Helicoil Insert
Refer to SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.
Do the touch up process if the anodic treatment has been damaged by helicoil insert removal.
Check the surface.
SUBTASK 79-11-41-350-059 Repair the Damaged Anodic Treatment
Refer to Figure.
Put the new helicoil insert on the tip of the Inserting Tool (7552-4).
Put the insert on the tool
Put the tool with the new helicoil insert into the threaded hole.
Put the tool with the insert.
Install the new helicoil insert into the hole. Turn the handle clockwise.
Install the helicoil 1 to 1.5 pitch below the surface.
Install the insert into the hole.
Break the insert tang off at notch.
Use a tang Break-Off Tool (3695-4) tool Remove broken tangs from blind holes with a magnetized rod.
Break the tangs.

Do the touch up process if the anodic treatment has been damaged by helicoil insert installation.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.
Check the surface.

Do a crack text on the repaired area.
