General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oil and procedures, refer to SPM TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

Remove and discard the lockwire before any part is disconnected or removed.

Transportation covers/blanks must be installed immediately after the removal of the components.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-051 Remove the Cap Assembly (01-780)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Lift the handle from close to open position.

    3. Turn counterclockwise the cap assembly until the lock is aligned with the filler neck slots.

    4. Remove the cap assembly.

    5. Remove and discard the packing.

    6. Remove the connecting ring of the wire rope from the holes in the cap assembly and the filler neck assembly.

    7. Remove the wire rope.

    2. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-052 Remove the Filler Neck Assembly (01-590)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the four bolts and washers that attach the filler neck to the oil tank assembly.

    3. Remove the filler neck assembly from the oil tank assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the two packings.

    3. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-053-A00 Remove the Oil Tank Level Indicator (01-100) (Pre SBE 79-0013)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the two bolts that attach the oil level indicator to the deaerator assembly.

    3. Remove the oil level indicator from the connector assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    4. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-053-B01 Remove the Oil Tank Level Indicator (01-100) (SBE 79-0013) (Pre SBE 79-0025)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the two bolts that attach the oil level indicator to the connector assembly.

    3. Remove the oil level indicator from the connector assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    5. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-053-B02 Remove the Connector Assembly (01-144) (SBE 79-0013) (Pre SBE 79-0025)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the two bolts and washer that attach the oil level indicator to the deaerator assembly.

    3. Remove the connector from the deaerator assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    6. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-053-C00 Remove the Bracket (01-101) and the Cover (01-102) from the Deaerator Assembly (SBE 79-0025)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the two bolts that attach the bracket and the cover to the deaerator assembly.

    3. Remove the bracket and the cover from the deaerator assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    7. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-054-A00 Remove the Union Adaptor (01-180) (Pre SBE 79-0025)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the lockwire from the union adaptor.

    3. Remove the union adaptor from the deaerator assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    2. Remove the plug from the deaerator assembly.

    3. Remove and discard the packing.

    9. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-055 Remove the Deaerator Assembly (01-240)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the six bolts and washers that attach the deaerator assembly to the oil tank assembly.

    3. Remove the deaerator assembly from the oil tank assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the lockwire from the cover.

    3. Remove the eight screws that attach the cover to the oil tank assembly.

    4. Remove the cover.

    11. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-057 Remove the Sight Glass (01-081) (SBE 79-0025)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the lockwire from the sight glass.

    3. Remove the eight screws that attach the sight glass to the oil tank assembly.

    4. Remove the sight glass.

    5. Remove and discard the sight glass gasket.

    12. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-058 Remove the Tube Closure Nut (01-090) and Union Adaptor (01-094) (SBE 79-0014)

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the lockwire from the tube closure nut and from the union adaptor.

    3. Remove the tube closure nut from the union adaptor.

    4. Remove the union adaptor from the oil tank assembly.

    5. Remove and discard the packing.

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the lockwire from the union adaptor.

    3. Remove the union adaptor from the oil tank assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    2. Remove the four bolts that attach the cover to the oil tank assembly.

    3. Remove the cover from the oil tank assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    15. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-060-B00 Remove the Plate (01-357) and the Cover (72-60-03,01-650) (SBE 79-0023)

    2. Remove the four bolts that attach the plate and the cover to the oil tank assembly.

    3. Remove the plate and the cover from the oil tank assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the packing.

    16. SUBTASK 79-11-41-060-061 Remove the Plugs (72-60-03,01-710) and (72-60-03,01-730) from the Cover Assembly

    2. Remove the lockwire from the two plugs.

    3. Remove the two plugs from the cover assembly.

    4. Remove and discard the two packings.

    2. Remove the four bolts that attach the cover assembly to the oil tank assembly.
