To identify, lubricate and install packing refer to the SPM TASK 70-44-01-400-501.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-061-A00 Install the Master MCD Probe (Pre SBE 79-0028)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure the MCD is clean.

    3. Lightly lubricate two new sealing rings OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-030) 2 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILSs. Put the sealing rings on the MCD probe OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-010).

      4. Install the MCD probe OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-010) at position 1:

      1. Carefully put the MCD probe in to the body unit OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-020). At the same time align the bayonet pins with the slots in the body unit.

      2. NOTE

        The spring pressure will keep the MCD probe in position.

        Push the MCD probe into the body unit OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-020) and turn it clockwise, until it stops. Release the MCD probe.

        3. Make sure the MCD probe is installed correctly:

        1. Lightly pull the MCD probe and try to turn it clockwise and counterclockwise. The MCD probe must stay locked.

        2. Make sure that the alignment marks on the MCD probe and its body unit are aligned.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-061-B00 Install the Master MCD Probe (Pre SBE 70-0628 and SBE 79-0028)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure the MCD is clean.

    3. Lightly lubricate two new sealing rings (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-080) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-130)) with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILSs. Put the sealing rings on the MCD probe (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-060) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-110)).

      4. Install the MCD probe (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-060) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-110)) at position 1:

      1. Carefully put the MCD probe in to the body unit (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-070) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-120)). At the same time align the bayonet pins with the slots in the body unit.

      2. NOTE

        The spring pressure will keep the MCD probe in position.

        Push the MCD probe into the body unit (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-070) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-120)) and turn it clockwise, until it stops. Release the MCD probe.

        3. Make sure the MCD probe is installed correctly.

        1. Lightly pull the MCD probe and try to turn it clockwise and counterclockwise. The MCD probe must stay locked.

        2. Make sure that the alignment marks on the MCD probe and its body unit are aligned.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-061-C00 Install the Master MCD Probe (SBE 70-0628 and Pre SBE 79-0042)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure the MCD is clean.

    3. Lightly lubricate two new sealing rings (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-130), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-108), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-080) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-053)) with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILSs. Put the sealing rings on the MCD probe (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-110), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-106), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-060) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-051)).

      4. Install the MCD probe (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-110), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-106), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-060) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-051)) at position 1:

      1. Carefully put the MCD probe in to the body unit (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-120), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-107), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-070) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-052)). At the same time align the bayonet pins with the slots in the body unit.

      2. NOTE

        The spring pressure will keep the MCD probe in position.

        Push the MCD probe into the body unit (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-120), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-107), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-070) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-052)) and turn it clockwise, until it stops. Release the MCD probe.

        3. Make sure the MCD probe is installed correctly.

        1. Lightly pull the MCD probe and try to turn it clockwise and counterclockwise. The MCD probe must stay locked.

        2. Make sure that the alignment marks on the MCD probe and its body unit are aligned.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-061-D00 Install the Master MCD Probe (SBE 79-0042)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Make sure the MCD is clean.

    3. NOTE

      Sealing ring and Omni seal are the part of magnetic probe. Do not remove or replace the sealing ring or omni seal from the new MCD probe.

      Lightly lubricate new sealing ring (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-053), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-080), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-108) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-130)) 1 off installed on MCD probe (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-051), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-060), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-106) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-118)) with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILSs.

      4. Install the MCD probe (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-051), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-060), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-106) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-118)) at position 1:

      1. Carefully put the MCD probe in to the body unit (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-052), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-070), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-107) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-120)). At the same time align the bayonet pins with the slots in the body unit.

      2. NOTE

        The spring pressure will keep the MCD probe in position.

        Push the MCD probe into the body unit (OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-052), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-070), OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-107) and OIL-MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR (79-22-45, 01-120)) and turn it clockwise, until it stops. Release the MCD probe.

        3. Make sure the MCD probe is installed correctly.

        1. Lightly pull the MCD probe and try to turn it clockwise and counterclockwise. The MCD probe must stay locked.

        2. Make sure that the alignment marks on the MCD probe and its body unit are aligned.

    5. SUBTASK 72-00-00-450-062 Install the remaining MCD Probes

    1. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

    2. Do steps given in Step, Step, Step and Step for the MCD probes positions 2 thru 7.
