General

This TASK gives the procedure to remove the EGT harness and junction box assembly from the LP system module.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-051 Remove the Parts which Connect the Thermocouple Harness to the EGT Thermocouples

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the two alumel (larger) nuts and washers and the two chromel (smaller) nuts and washers which attach the harness lugs to the thermocouple terminals.

    3. Remove the harness lugs from the thermocouple terminals.

    4. Install the washers and nuts back on the thermocouple terminals.

    5. Do these steps at the four thermocouple locations.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-052 Disconnect the Harness at the Flange P and the P4.9 Manifold Bracket Locations (Pre SBE 72-0014 and SBE 72-0014)

    1. Remove the bolts and nuts which attach the harness clamps to the brackets (five positions on each the left and right sides) on the Flange P, refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the two bolts which attach the harness clamps to the bracket on the bottom of the exhaust case boss.

    3. Remove the bolts and nuts which attach the harness clamps to the clamps on the P4.9 manifold at one position on the left and right sides.

      4. Remove the harness clamp at the remaining locations, refer to Figure.

      1. Pre SBE 72-0014 : Remove the bolts, clamps and nuts which attach the harness to the P4.9 manifold tube ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-P4.9 SENSOR AND MANIFOLD (73-22-51, 01-180) at locations T, U, V and W.

      2. SBE 72-0014 : Remove the bolts, clamps and nuts which attach the harness to the P4.9 manifold tube ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-P4.9 SENSOR AND MANIFOLD (73-22-51, 01-180) at locations V and W.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-058-A00 Disconnect the Harness at the Flange T Bracket Locations (Pre SBE 77-0003)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the bolts which attach the harness clamps to the brackets at six positions on the Flange T.

    4. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-058-B00 Disconnect the Harness at the Flange T Bracket Locations (SBE 77-0001, SBE 77-0003 and SBE 77-0007)

    1. Remove the nuts which attach the harness clamps to the brackets at six positions on the Flange T, refer to Figure and Figure (Fig. 301 sheets 4 and 5.

    5. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-058-C00 Disconnect the Harness at the Flange T Bracket Locations (SBE 77-0005)

    1. Refer to Figure

    2. Remove the nuts which attach the harness clamps to the brackets at four positions on the Flange T.

    3. Remove the nuts and washers which attach the harness clamps to the brackets at two positions on the Flange T at clipping points CP6004 and CP6009, refer to Figure.

    6. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-053 Disconnect the Core EGT Harness from the Junction Box (Pre SBE 77-0009 and SBE 77-0009)

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the four screws which attach the cover to the junction box and remove the cover.

    3. Remove the four nuts which attach the engine harness to the junction box terminals , refer to Figure or Figure.

    4. Remove the harness lugs from the junction box terminals.

    5. Pre SBE 77-0009 : Install the nuts back on to the junction box terminals.

    6. CAUTION

      ONCE A NEW STYLE NUT IS INSTALLED ON TO THE MATING STUD YOU MUST NOT INSTALL AN OLD NUT ON THAT STUD.

      SBE 77-0009 : Install the self locking nuts back on to the junction box terminals.

    7. SUBTASK 72-00-50-050-054 Remove the EGT Harness and Junction Box Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Remove the four bolts and nuts which attach the junction box to the bracket.

    3. Remove the EGT harness and junction box assembly from the engine.
