This Repair gives the procedure for replacing the sealing strip.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-35-350-054 Remove the Damaged Sealing Strip

      1. Remove the damaged sealing strip.

      2. Clean the seal holder.

    2. SUBTASK 72-32-35-350-055 Prepare the Bonding Surface

    1. Refer to Figure

      2. Prepare the bonding surface.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-36-02-360-501.

    3. SUBTASK 72-32-35-350-056 Prime the Bonding Surface

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. CAUTION

        THE PRIMER MUST BE APPLIED WITHIN 8 HOURS AFTER THE MATING SURFACES ARE PREPARED.
        DO NOT APPLY THE PRIMER ON THE SURFACE OF THE SEALING STRIP.

        Prime the bonding surface.

    4. SUBTASK 72-32-35-360-051 Bond the Sealing Strip

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. CAUTION

        INCLUSION OF AIR IN THE BONDING SURFACE MUST BE PREVENTED AND EXCESS COMPOUND MUST BE REMOVED.

        Bond the ends of the sealing strip and bond the sealing strip to the seal holder for 2 hours at room temperature.

      3. Cure for 48 hours at room temperature.

      1. Do not apply a load during this time.

      4. Visually inspect for correct bonding.

        1. Refer to Figure.

        1. Make sure that there is no evidence of foreign inclusion, delamination, soft spot and lack of bonding.

    5. SUBTASK 72-32-35-220-060 Examine the Rear Air Seal Assembly

      1. Visually examine the rear air seal assembly.
