General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Refer to TASK 72-32-91-440-001 for a sectional view of the fan outlet inner vane assembly.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-91-040-051 Disassemble the Fan Outlet Inner Vane Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Put the four holders (part of IAE 1J12414 Holding block set 1 off) in a circular position. The four holders must be equally put apart. The diameter of the circle must be equal to the diameter of the splitter fairing.

    4. Install the fan outlet inner vane assembly on to the holders with front end down.

    5. Remove the 46 screws which attach the LPC inlet guide vane to the splitter fairing with a torque set screwdriver.

    6. Move the fan outlet inner vane assembly on to the work bench.

    7. Hit the splitter fairing lightly at the rear edge with a soft headed mallet to release it from the LPC inlet guide vane.
