NONEProcedure
Refer to Figure.
Do not remove more than 0.0120 to 0.0197 in. (0.30 to 0.50 mm) in relation to the adjacent undamaged area.
Remove all damage and wear.
Keep the removal of material to the minimum necessary to remove the damage.
Machine the oil tubes mating surfaces.
SUBTASK 72-50-53-320-069 Machine the Oil Tubes Mating Surfaces in the Turbine Exhaust Case Assembly
Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-02-230-501.
No cracks are permitted.
Do the fluorescent penetrant inspection for cracks.
Repair, VRS3655 TASK 72-50-53-300-076 (REPAIR 076).
Drain the fluorescent penetrant from the struts.
SUBTASK 72-50-53-230-060 Examine the Turbine Exhaust Case Assembly
Refer to Figure.
Mask the areas of the turbine exhaust case not to be plated.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-33-10-300-503, SPM TASK 70-33-06-300-503, or SPM TASK 70-33-28-300-503.
Plate to a sufficient thickness to permit the machining to the last dimension.
The plating out of the oil tubes mating surfaces is permitted but must be removed.
Do the nickel plating.
Remove the mask.
Flush with cold water.
Flush with hot water.
Dry with air blast.
Clean and dry the turbine exhaust case assembly.
SUBTASK 72-50-53-330-059 Nickel Plate the Oil Tubes Mating Surfaces in the Turbine Exhaust Case Assembly
Do this process as soon as possible in less than 4 hours after the plating.
Put the turbine exhaust case into a furnace at 266 to 302 deg F (130 to 150 deg C) for 12 hours.
SUBTASK 72-50-53-370-063 De-embrittle the Turbine Exhaust Case Assembly
Plating must have a constant color.
No circumferential cracks are permitted.
No rough and blistering are permitted.
Do the visual inspection of the plating for finish, cracks and adhesion.
SUBTASK 72-50-53-220-099 Examine the Turbine Exhaust Case Assembly
Refer to Figure.
The dimension must be between 0.0039 to 0.0079 in. (0.10 to 0.20 mm) in relation to the adjacent undamaged area after machining.
Chamfer where necessary.
Machine the oil tubes mating surfaces.
SUBTASK 72-50-53-320-070 Machine the Oil Tubes Mating Surfaces in the Turbine Exhaust Case Assembly
Refer to Figure.
Use a 4X magnifying glass.
The natural network crack, emphasized by grinding, is permitted.
Do the visual inspection of the plated area for cracks and adhesion.
Do not accept thickness less than 0.0006 in. (0.015 mm) after the last machining.
Measure the thickness of the plating.
