General

WARNING

DURING DISASSEMBLY DO NOT BREATHE DUST OF THE LOOSENED BOLTS. PREVENT SKIN AND EYE CONTACT WITH RELEASED DUST. THE DUST CONTAINS NICKEL PARTICLES WHICH CAN POSE A HEALTH HAZARD. BEFORE DISASSEMBLY LUBRICATE ACCESSIBLE BOLTS AND BOLT HEADS, NUTS AND EXPOSED THREADS WITH AN APPROVED, SUITABLE PENETRANT OIL. WEAR A FACE MASK AND GOGGLES. DO NOT REMOVE DUST DEPOSITS WITH COMPRESSED AIR. REMOVE ANY SURFACE DUST PARTICLES WITH A DISPOSABLE DAMP RAG OR SIMILAR. AFTER END OF THIS PROCEDURE CLEAN YOUR HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN WHERE POSSIBLE.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedures, refer to SPM TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Discard all flexible seals removed in this procedure.

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 75-24-49-040-051 Install the Lower LP Turbine Cooling Air Duct to the Support Fixture

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the lower LP turbine cooling air duct to the IAE 1M14084 Support fixture 1 off.

    3. Safety the lower LP turbine cooling air duct to the support fixture with the swing bolt the knurled knob, the two washers and the two screws. Make sure that the tube ends are in their holes.

    2. SUBTASK 75-24-49-040-052 Remove the Support Assemblies C and D from the Lower LP Turbine Cooling Air Duct

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. NOTE

      For the location of the support assemblies, refer to Figure.

      Loosen the 20 nuts.

    3. Remove the 20 bolts and nuts from the support assemblies.

    4. Remove the support assemblies C and D and the two half loop clamps from the lower LP turbine cooling air duct.

    3. SUBTASK 75-24-49-040-053 Remove the Support Assembly B from the Lower LP Turbine Cooling Air Duct

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. NOTE

      For the location of the support assemblies, refer to Figure.

      Loosen the 20 nuts.

    3. Remove the 20 bolts and nuts from the support assembly B.

    4. Remove the support assembly B and the two half loop clamps from the lower LP turbine cooling air duct.

    4. SUBTASK 75-24-49-040-054 Remove the Support Assembly E from the Lower LP Turbine Cooling Air Duct

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. NOTE

      For the location of the support assemblies, refer to Figure.

      Loosen the 20 nuts.

    3. Remove the 20 bolts and nuts from the support assembly E.

    4. Remove the support assembly E and the two half loop clamps from the lower LP turbine cooling air duct.

    5. SUBTASK 75-24-49-040-056 Install the Upper LP Turbine Cooling Air Duct to the Support Fixture

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Install the upper LP turbine cooling air duct to the IAE 1M14084 Support fixture 1 off.

    3. Safety the upper LP turbine cooling air duct to the support fixture with the swing bolt, the knurled knob, the two washers and the two screws. Make sure that the tube ends are in their holes.

    6. SUBTASK 75-24-49-040-057 Remove the Support Assemblies A and F from the Upper LP Turbine Cooling Air Duct

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. NOTE

      For the location of the support assemblies, refer to Figure.

      Loosen the 20 nuts.

    3. Remove the 20 bolts and nuts from the support assemblies A and F.

    4. Remove the support assemblies A and F with the half loop clamps from the upper LP turbine cooling air duct.
