General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedures, refer to TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and seal washers removed in this procedure.

Remove and discard the lockwire before parts are disconnected or removed.

Transportation covers/blanks must be installed immediately after the removal of the component.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-60-030-053 Remove the Dedicated Alternator Stator

    1. Remove the dedicated alternator stator, refer to TASK 72-00-60-450-001.

    2. SUBTASK 72-00-60-020-103 Remove the Oil Feed Tube 184

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Cut and remove the lockwire. Disconnect the tube 184 from the gearbox casing and from the PMA drive gear assembly.

    3. Remove the tube.

    3. SUBTASK 72-00-60-020-104 Remove the PMA Drive Gear

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Loosen and remove the two nuts Main Gearbox Assembly (72-60-10, 01-637) which attach the bracket Main Gearbox Assembly (72-60-10, 01-630) to the bracket Main Gearbox Assembly (72-60-10, 01-632).

    3. Remove the three nuts Main Gearbox Assembly (72-60-10, 01-640) which attach the PMA drive gear assembly to PMA drive housing.

    4. Remove the bracket Main Gearbox Assembly (72-60-10, 01-630) from the PMA.

    5. Disengage the flange of the PMA drive gear assembly from the PMA drive housing.

    6. Remove the PMA drive gear assembly from the PMA drive housing.

    7. Remove and discard the two packings from the PMA drive gear assembly.
