Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-10-350-067 Remove the Rivets from the Brush Seal Supports and Stage 1 HPT Support Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. Blend the rivet heads and then punch out the remaining pieces of the rivets.

    2. SUBTASK 72-44-10-350-068 Remove the Brush Seal Supports from the Stage 1 HPT Support Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. NOTE

      Each brush seal support must be later assembled at their original positions.

      Note the locations of each brush seal support.

    3. Remove the three brush seal supports from the Stage 1 HPT support assembly.

    3. SUBTASK 72-44-10-320-065 Remove the Brush Seal Assembly from the Stage 1 HPT Support Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

    2. If the brush seal is removed for cleaning purpose, use appropriate tool to remove the brush seal without damaging the part so that the brush seal can be reused. If more effort is required, then machine to remove the brush seal per the next step.

    3. Machine the brush seal assembly to facilitate removal from the Stage 1 HPT support assembly. Do not remove parent material from the Stage 1 HPT support assembly.

    4. If brush seal was machined, remove and discard the brush seal assembly.

    4. SUBTASK 72-44-10-110-070 Clean the Stage 1 HPT Support Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Clean the Stage 1 HPT support assembly.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

    5. SUBTASK 72-44-10-110-071 Install a New Brush Seal Assembly (or) Removed Brush Seal Assembly for Cleaning to the Stage 1 HPT Support Assembly

    1. WARNING

      WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHES AND GLOVES TO PREVENT INJURY WHEN YOU INSTALL THE BRUSH SEAL ASSEMBLY.

      Refer to Figure.

    2. Get the brush seal assembly and the Stage 1 HPT support assembly to have a temperature differential in Fahrenheit of 300 degrees or a temperature differential in Celsius of 166.67 degrees.

    3. NOTE

      A clearance fit is required while assembling the brush seal assembly to the Stage 1 HPT support assembly.

      Install the brush seal assembly on the Stage 1 HPT support assembly.

    6. SUBTASK 72-44-10-450-001 Install Rivets and Brush Seal Supports to the Stage 1 HPT Support Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Place brush seal supports in original positions on the Stage 1 HPT support assembly and install new rivets.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    7. SUBTASK 72-44-10-220-206 Examine the Stage 1 HPT Support Assembly

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Examine the Stage 1 HPT support assembly.
