WARNING
Procedure
If necessary, degrease the part (refer to SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503).
Put the part fully in to CoMat 01-171 RUBBER DIGESTER, or CoMat 01-172 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER, or CoMat 01-173 RUBBER DIGESTER, or CoMat 01-174 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER, or CoMat 01-591 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER,or CoMat 10-061 STODDARD SOLVENT for two hours at room temperature.
Put the part into CoMat 01-277 KEROSINE for 8 to 12 hours at room temperature.
NOTE
It is permissible to increase or decrease the soak time, as necessary, based on experience.

CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT THE PART IS PUT FULLY INTO THE RUBBER DIGESTER OR SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER.Remove silicone rubber from the part by one of the methods that follow:
NOTE
You must keep the tank closed to prevent the decrease of the remover in to the air.Spray rinse part with cold or hot water.
If the water on the part surface does not flash off when the part comes out of the hot water, then the time interval that the part stayed in the hot water was too short to increase the part temperature sufficiently.
Put the part fully in hot water at a temperature of 150 to 200 deg F (66 to 93 deg C) until the temperature of the part increases sufficiently to flash dry.
If necessary, blast to remove any remaining silicone rubber compound. Refer to SPM TASK 70-12-07-120-501.
SUBTASK 70-11-04-300-001 Remove the Silicone Rubber from a Part that is not made from Anodized Aluminum
If necessary, degrease the part (refer to SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503).
Put the part fully in to CoMat 01-171 RUBBER DIGESTER, or CoMat 01-172 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER, or CoMat 01-173 RUBBER DIGESTER, or CoMat 01-174 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER or CoMat 10-061 STODDARD SOLVENT, or CoMat 01-591 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER for one hour at room temperature.
Put the part into CoMat 01-277 KEROSINE for 8 to 12 hours at room temperature.
NOTE
It is permissible to increase or decrease the soak time, as necessary, based on experience.

CAUTION
1. MAKE SURE THAT THE PART IS PUT FULLY INTO THE RUBBER DIGESTER OR SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER.2. THE PART MUST NOT STAY IN CoMat 01-171 RUBBER DIGESTER OR CoMat 01-172 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER FOR MORE THAN FOUR HOURS OR CoMat 01-173 RUBBER DIGESTER OR CoMat 01-174 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER FOR MORE THAN TWO HOURS OR CoMat 01-591 SILICONE RUBBER REMOVER FOR MORE THAN FIVE HOURS. IF THESE TIMES ARE EXCEEDED, THEN DETERIORATION OR COMPLETE REMOVAL OF THE ANODIZED COATING IS POSSIBLE.Remove silicone rubber from the part by one of the methods that follow:
NOTE
You must keep the tank closed to prevent the decrease of the remover into the air.If the part is not free from compound, use a Soft bristle brush or Non-Metallic Scraper to remove as much compound as possible.
SUBTASK 70-11-04-300-003 Remove the Silicone Rubber from an Anodized Aluminum Part
If the part is aluminum, use TASK 70-38-02-200-502 to touch up all aluminum metal surfaces that show no anodized coating or chemical conversion coating.
