General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

For standard torque data and procedures, refer to SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-02-400-501.

Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in the procedure.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILSs, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

After assembly apply CoMat 07-032 ENAMEL, POLYURETHANE, AIR-DRYING, TWO-PART, GREY to any damaged surface protection, joint flanges and attach parts. Use the correct color of the air drying enamel. Refer to SPM TASK 70-38-07-380-501.

To identify the consumable materials refer to the PCI.

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 71-00-02-420-008 Install the Air Intake Cowl

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Remove the fan case IAE 1J12183 cover 1 off.

    3. Remove the blanking plugs Air Intake Cowl (71-11-11, 01-210) from the cowl.

    4. Attach IAE 1N20403 Sling 1 off to a hoist and the cowl V2500-A5-71-11-11-02A-941A-D (71-11-11, 02-005).

    5. Lift the cowl and align the four location dowels with the fan case flange holes.

    6. Attach the cowl to the fan case with the 36 bolts Air Intake Cowl (71-11-11, 01-008). Start at the 3 o-clock and the 9 o-clock positions and move in sequence around the flange.

    7. Torque the bolts to 210 lbf.in (23.7 Nm).

    8. Remove the blanking caps from the electrical plugs and connectors, the union, the hose and the ducts.

    9. Install the new seal Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-100) to the anti-ice duct Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 02-100).

    10. Attach the anti-ice duct to the duct assembly Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-070) with the coupling assembly Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-090).

    11. Torque the coupling nuts to between 45 and 55 lbf.in (5.1 and 6.2 Nm).

    12. NOTE

      You cannot do this step until you install an air intake cowl.

      Connect the instrument air tube ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-P2/T2 PROBE ASSEMBLY (73-22-48, 02-020) to the P2 hose and union at the cowl aft bulkhead.

    13. Torque the nut to between 135 and 145 lbf.in (15.2 and 16.4 Nm).

    14. Connect the four electrical connectors 4010VC-A, 4012VC-A, 4013VC-A and 4011VC-A.

    15. Install the blanking plug Air Intake Cowl (71-11-11, 01-210) in the cowl.
