General

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedures, refer to SPM TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Discard all rubber seal rings, cotter pins and keywashers removed in this procedure.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 71-11-11-020-051 Remove the Air Intake Cowl

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Remove the blanking plugs (01-210) from the cowl.

    4. Attach the IAE 1N20403 Sling 1 off to a hoist and the cowl (02-005).

    5. Remove the coupling assembly Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-090) at the anti-ice duct joint. Discard the seal Anti-Ice Ducts (30-21-49, 01-100).

    6. Disconnect the electrical connectors 4000DN-A, 4011VC-A, 4010VC-A, 4012VC-A and 4013VC-A from the cowl aft bulkhead.

    7. Disconnect the instrument ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL-P2/T2 PROBE ASSEMBLY (73-22-48, 02-020) air tube from the cowl aft bulkhead P2/T2 union P2/T2 Sensor Air Tube (73-22-48, 01-040).

    8. Hold up the weight of the cowl on the sling.

    9. Remove the 36 bolts (01-008) at the fan case front flange.

    10. Move the cowl forwards and lower it on to the IAE 1N20401 Dolly 1 off.

    11. Put blanking caps on the electrical plugs and connectors, the union, the hose and the ducts.

    12. Remove the sling from the cowl.

    13. Install the blanking plugs (01-210) in the cowl.

    14. Put the IAE 1J12183 cover 1 off on the fan case.
