Safety Requirements

Refer to Repair, VRS2981 TASK 71-51-43-300-003 (REPAIR-003).
NOTE
Pin to earth - The insulation resistance should be 20 megohms minimum.Disassemble the backclamps and the connectors to get access to the damaged cables.
Use an applicable forming board to hold the harness.
Make a note of the position of these items: the different types of cable ties, the identification sleeves and the adhesive tape.
Remove only the items which hold the cables that must be replaced.
Disassemble the harness to get access to the damaged cables.
Use cable of the correct type and length.
Attach the new contacts, refer to Repair, VRS2988 TASK 71-51-43-300-004 (REPAIR-004) and the new terminal lugs, refer to Repair, VRS2993 TASK 71-51-43-300-005 (REPAIR-005) as necessary.
Install the new identification sleeves in the positions noted in paragraph Step.
Replace the cables.
Install the three layers of No.69 White Scotchboy Tape CoMat 02-148 ADHESIVE TAPE (ELECTRICAL) along the length of the General Services Harness from the M81714/3-D-A1 Terminal Junction Module and the M81714/3-D-B1 Terminal Junction Module for a distance of approximately 6.00 in. (152.4 mm).
Install the insulating tape.
Refer to Repair, VRS2981 TASK 71-51-43-300-003 (REPAIR-003).
Assemble the backclamps and the connectors.
Tie the cables in the positions noted in Step, refer to Repair, VRS2973 TASK 71-51-43-300-002 (REPAIR-002).
Tie the cables.
Refer to Testing-001 TASK 71-51-43-700-301.
Do a continuity and insulation test .
SUBTASK 71-51-43-350-051 Replace the Cables.
Use the CoMat 06-131 MARKING PEN.
Put the repair scheme number VRS2965 on the identification sleeve of the harness, adjacent to the part number.
