      1. WARNING

DO NOT GET CLEANING FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, GOGGLES AND A FACE MASK. USE THE FLUID IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. DO NOT BREATHE THE VAPOR. IF YOU GET THE CLEANING FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES, FLUSH IT AWAY WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.

        Clean the missing layer areas.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-31-110-060-A02 Clean the Dovetail Slot - Method 2

    2. Refer to Figure.

Clean the dovetail slot of the fan disc.

        1. Assemble the fan disc cleaning tool.

        2. Use CoMat 04-017 KIT, RAPID RELUBRICATION SYSTEM, fan disc cleaning handle and roller.

        1. Remove the loose dry film lubricant.

        2. Use all five cleaning rollers to clean the fan disc slots. Discard the rollers once they have become dirty. It is permitted to use the fan disc cleaning tool with CoMat 01-031 ACETONE (CH3)2CO or CoMat 01-124 ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL or CoMat 01-338 CLEANING SOLVENT.

Put the roller fully into the above solvent and brush along the slot to remove the loose dry film lubricant and the unwanted material.

      2. Discard the cleaning handle and rollers.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-31-220-140 Examine the Fan Disk

      1. Do a visual inspection of the part.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-31-350-063-A01 Apply the Dry Film Lubricant on the Dovetail Slot - Method 1

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Touch up the dry film lubricant to the missing layer areas.

    3. Apply three layers of the dry lubricant to a total thickness of between 0.001 and 0.002 in. (0.03 and 0.05 mm) to the surface BJ.

      1. Air dry.

      2. If CoMat 10-005 COLLOIDAL MOLYBDENUM DISULFIDE IN TOLUENE was used, dry for minimum eight hours.

      3. If CoMat 10-106 BONDED LUBRICANT was used, dry for 30 minutes.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-31-350-063-A02 Apply the Dry Film Lubricant - Method 2

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Assemble the fan disc applicator.

        1. Assemble the fan disc applicator.

        2. Use CoMat 04-017 KIT, RAPID RELUBRICATION SYSTEM, fan disc applicator handle and paint pads. Remove too much fibers from the pads. Assemble the fan disc applicator handle and pad.

      2. Loose fibers must be removed from the paint pads as the fibers may be applied to the fan disc slot within the dry film lubricant layer. Fibers in the layer are to be prevented where possible.

      1. Prepare the dry film lubricant.

      2. Remove any congealed dry film lubricant from the container.

      3. Put a small amount of dry film lubricant into the paint tray, approximate diameter 1.5 in. (40 mm).

      4. NOTE

        1. A small amount of the dry film lubricant must be put into a paint try in order to prevent the dry film lubricant drying quickly.

        2. Before filling the paint try with the dry film lubricant, any dried lubricant must be removed from the paint tray. If the dried dry film lubricant remains on the tray, the dried dry film lubricant can cause contamination of the dry film lubricant and inconsistencies in both layer quality and thickness.

      1. Put the load on the pad with dry film lubricant for applying of each dovetail slot.

      2. Make sure that all the paint pad fibers are applied with dry film lubricant. Remove too much dry film lubricant with the edge of the paint tray until the paint pad is a same dark grey color. Do not put too much load on the paint pad as this will cause drips when the dry film lubrication is applied to the dovetail slot.

      1. CAUTION

THE APPLICATOR PAINT PAD MUST BE REPLACED AFTER EVERY SIX DOVETAIL SLOTS RE-LUBRICATIONS, AS THE PAINT PAD FIBERS BECOME STICKY AND THE PAD DETERIORATED.

Apply the dry film lubricant to each dovetail slot.

      2. Make sure it is applied at the top-dead-center position of the fan disc. Turn the disc to put the dovetail slot at this position before you start to apply.

      3. Put the applicator paint pad in the dovetail slot at the top-dead-center position of the disc. Put the paint pad on the left-hand-side surface of the dovetail slot, lightly pushing left and up. Apply a layer of dry film lubricant to the left-hand-side surface with a smooth stroke along the full length of the dovetail slot and back.

For example, from the front to the rear of the disc, and then from the rear to the front of the disc, while put on the left-hand-side surface.

      4. Put the paint pad on the right-hand-side surface of the dovetail slot, lightly pushing right and up. Apply a layer of dry film lubricant to the right-hand-side surface with a smooth stroke along the full length of the dovetail slot and back.

For example, from the front to the rear of the disc, and then from the rear to the front of the disc, while put on the right-hand-side surface.

      5. Do steps (1) thru (3) again to apply the dry film lubricant to each remaining dovetail slot.

      1. Visually examine the dry film lubricant layer.

        1. Make sure the surface is equally applied.

        2. Use a dental mirror and torch.

      2. If an area of BJ is not applied and the dry film lubricant is not dry, then apply the dry film lubricant to the fan disc dovetail slot. Go to Step E.

        1. If an area of BJ is not applied and the dry film lubricant is dry, then the dry film lubricant must be removed. Go to Step B.

        1. Do a check of the dry film lubricant layer, after each applying, for fibers.

          1. If the layer contains more than five fibers per 0.155 sq.in (1.00 sq cm), then remove the dry film lubricant layer. Go to Step B.

        1. Do a check of the dovetail slot and disc front face for drips. Remove all drips.

    3. Cure the dry film lubricant for a minimum of 30 minutes at room temperature.

    4. Discard the applicator tool.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-31-220-141 Visually Examine the Dry Film Lubricant on the Dovetail Slot

      1. The layer must be smooth and bonded correctly to the surface of the part.

      2. Use a dental mirror.

      1. The layer must not have any cracks or flakes.

      2. Use a dental mirror.

    1. SUBTASK 72-00-31-350-064 Identify the Repair

      1. Put a mark VRS1134 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501. Use vibro engraving equipment.
