TASK 72-32-00-030-012 LPC/Intermediate Case Module - Remove The No. 2 Bearing Oil Feed Tube, No.3 Bearing Oil Feed Tube, NF Electrical Harness, Rear Seal Drain Tube, And P2.5 CM Tube, Disassembly-012

General

This TASK gives the procedure to remove the No. 2 and No. 3 bearing oil feed tubes, the NF electrical harness, rear seal drain tube and the P2.5CM tube.

Apply the approved penetrating oil before the removal of threaded parts. Let the parts soak before removal. For the approved oils and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-64-00-640-501.

Discard all rubber seal rings removed in this procedure.

The number for each radial location must be identified in a clockwise direction. These start at the engine top position when you look from the rear of the engine, unless stated differently in the procedure.

The No. 1 strut, which is the top position strut of the fan frame, is identified by the five pressure tubes on the No. 1 strut leading edge.

Procedure

1. Refer to Figure.
2. Make sure that the fan frame is vertically installed, with its front end up, on the turnover stand. Refer to TASK 72-32-00-030-011 (DISASSEMBLY-011).
3. Release the lock pin (part of the turnover stand) from the holes in the handle (part of the turnover stand) and the support C (part of the turnover stand).
4. Turn the handle to set the fan frame horizontal with the No. 1 strut up.
5. Align one of the eight holes in the handle with the hole in the support C.
6. Install the lock pin into position to lock the handle.

2. CAUTION
  DO NOT REMOVE THERMOCOUPLES. REFER TO Figure. THEY ARE REMOVED WHEN THEIR FAILURE IS FOUND. IF YOU TRY TO REMOVE THEM, DAMAGE CAN BE CAUSED TO THEM.
  Remove the bolt and the washer which attach the clips to the P2.5CM bracket.
3. Remove the nut from the P2.5CM bracket.
4. Remove the clips and the bushing from the P2.5CM tube.
5. Remove the bolt which attaches the adapter of the P2.5CM tube to the fan frame boss. Remove the P2.5CM tube and discard the sealing ring.
6. Remove the two bolts and nuts which attach the P2.5CM bracket to the fan frame and remove the P2.5CM bracket.

2. Remove the two bolts which attach the seal drain tube to the fan frame.
3. Remove the seal drain tube from the fan frame.
4. Remove the ring from the drain tube and discard it.

2. 1. Remove the eight nuts which attach the harness terminals and the clips to the mounting pins.
  2. Remove the eight clips and harness leads from the mounting pins.
  3. Remove the eight clips from the harness leads.
3. 1. Remove the six bolts and washers which attach the clips to the brackets.
  2. Remove the six clips from the harness.
  3. Remove the six nuts from the brackets.
4. 1. Remove the bolt and the washer which attach the two clips to the boss.
  2. Remove the two clips from the bush.
  3. Remove the bush from the harness.
5. 1. Pre SBE 71-0303: Remove the three bolts and washers which attach the terminal block of the harness to the fan frame.
  2. SBE 71-0303 and Pre SBE 72-0553: Remove the three bolts, the two washers, the bracket and the spacer which attach the terminal block of the harness to the fan frame.
  3. SBE 72-0553: Remove the three bolts and three washers which attach the terminal block of the harness to the fan frame.
  4. Remove the harness from the fan frame.
  5. Remove the ring from the harness and discard it.

2. 1. Remove the three bolts which attach the No. 2 bearing oil feed tube to the No. 2 bearing support.
  2. Remove the No. 2 bearing oil feed tube from the No. 2 bearing support.
  3. Remove the three rings from the grooves in the oil feed tube and discard them.
3. 1. Remove the three bolts, three nuts and the six washers which attach the sub oil distributor to the main oil distributor.
  2. Remove the sub oil distributor from the main oil distributor.
  3. Remove the ring from the sub oil distributor and discard it.
4. Remove the oil restrictor from the main oil distributor.
5. Remove the ring from the oil restrictor and discard it.
6. 1. Remove the two bolts and nuts which attach the oil feed tube to the oil filter housing.
  2. Remove the two bolts which attach the oil feed tube to the main oil distributor.
  3. Remove the No. 3 bearing oil feed tube from the main oil distributor.
  4. Remove the two rings from the No. 3 bearing oil feed tube and discard them.
7. Remove the strainer element from the oil filter housing.
8. 1. Remove the two bolts which attach the oil filter housing to the No. 2 bearing support rear flange.
  2. Remove the oil filter housing from the No. 2 bearing support rear flange.
  3. Remove the ring from the oil filter housing and discard it.
