Use IAE 3J12848 Grinding fixture 1 off.
Use Grinding machine.
Install the fixture into the grinding machine.
Use a Dial set indicator.
Make sure that datum A and B are set to turn correctly.
Install the hydraulic seal assembly on to the fixture and set to turn correctly.

Use FPI equipment.

Do a fluorescent penetrant inspection on the machined surface.

Abrasive blast the rear face of the differential seal.
The maximum thickness of the plasma spray must be 0.010 in. (0.25 mm).

Plasma spray the rear face of the differential seal.

Install the fixture into the grinding machine.

Grind the rear face of the differential seal to the dimensions given in the figure.

Visually examine the coated area for chips, cracks, lifted material and coating that is not attached to the base metal.
