Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-21-110-057 Clean the No. 3 Bearing Housing

      1. Clean the housing.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-06-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-21-320-001 Machine the No. 3 Bearing Housing Seal Ring Grooves

    2. Refer to Figure or Figure.

      NOTE

      You can do VRS3575, Repair-012 at the same time as this repair. Refer to Repair-012 for plating limits.
      1. Machine the grooves.

      2. Machine to remove the minimum amount of material possible to remove wear.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-21-300-001 Nickel Plate the Grooves

    2. Refer to Figure or Figure.

      1. Nickel plate the grooves.

      2. Plate to a thickness of 0.0005 to 0.0015 in. (0.013 to 0.038 mm).

      3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-33-25-300-503.

      4. No plating is permitted inside the holes.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-21-320-002 Finish Machine the Seal Ring Grooves

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure or Figure.

      1. Finish machining the seal ring grooves.

      2. Achieve the dimensions shown for plus 10 rings, plus 20 rings or plus 30 rings.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-21-210-001 Examine the Repair

    3. Examine the housing and grooves after plating and finish machining.

      NOTE

      You can plate to size.
      If necessary, lightly blend to remove loose or flaking nickel plate in the repair areas as shown in the figures.
    1. SUBTASK 72-32-21-350-001 Identify the Repair

      1. Make a mark of the oversize number of the seal ring adjacent to the part number.

      2. An example of an oversize number is P5, P10, P15 or P20. Make a mark on the same surface as the part number, near the current part number. Make a permanent mark by the procedure in the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501. Use the vibration peen method.
