TASK 72-32-40-440-001 No. 1 Bearing And Support Assembly - Assemble, Assembly-001

General

This TASK gives the procedure to install the oil feed tube and the oil jet to the No. 1 bearing support.

SBE 72-0391 standard No. 1 bearing support includes the No. 1 bearing front support and the No. 1 bearing rear support. Procedure to assembly is given in TASK 72-32-41-440-001 (ASSEMBLY). You must complete TASK 72-32-41-440-001 before this TASK starts.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

For all parts identified in a different Chapter/Section/Subject, the applicable Chapter/Section/Subject comes before the Fig/item number.

For standard torque data and procedures, refer to the SPM TASK 70-41-00-400-501 and SPM TASK 70-41-02-400-501.

Special torque data and assembly tolerances are included in the procedure.

Lubricate all threads and abutment faces of nuts and bolts with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILSs, unless other lubricants are referred to in the procedure.

To identify, lubricate and install seal rings, refer to the SPM TASK 70-44-01-400-501.

The number for each radial location must be identified in a clockwise direction. These start at the engine top position when you look from the rear of the engine, unless stated differently in the procedure.

Refer to Figure for a view of a No. 1 bearing support assembly.

NOTE

Special tools are identified in the procedure by the tool primary number.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-40-440-056 Make Sure that the No. 1 Bearing Support Was Assembled (SBE 72-0391)

    2. Make sure that the No. 1 bearing support V2500-A5-71-32-41-01A-941A-D (71-32-41, 01-240) was assembled in accordance with TASK 72-32-41-440-001 (ASSEMBLY, PB-1001).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-40-440-051 Install the No. 1 Bearing Oil Jet (72-32-42,01-200) to the Strainer Housing (72-32-42,01-450)

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Install the oil jet strainer ENGINE-OIL JET AND OIL SUPPLY TUBE (72-32-42, 01-250) to the strainer housing. The end of the oil jet strainer, which has smaller outside diameter, must be installed into the housing.

    4. CAUTION

      POINT THE NOZZLE OF THE OIL JET IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION. IF THE NOZZLE IS IN AN INCORRECT DIRECTION, THE NOZZLE CANNOT SUPPLY OIL TO NO. 1 BEARING AND NO. 1 BEARING SEAL SEAT. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE NO. 1 BEARING AND NO. 1 BEARING FRONT OIL SEAL.

      Install the No. 1 bearing oil jet in to the strainer housing. Nozzle of the oil jet must point in direction X.

    5. Safety the No. 1 bearing oil jet to the strainer housing with the two bolts ENGINE-OIL JET AND OIL SUPPLY TUBE (72-32-42, 01-220), washers ENGINE-OIL JET AND OIL SUPPLY TUBE (72-32-42, 01-212) and nuts ENGINE-OIL JET AND OIL SUPPLY TUBE (72-32-42, 01-210).

    6. Torque the nuts to 85 to 105 lbfin (10.00 to 12.00 Nm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-40-440-054 Install the Oil Jet Assembly in to the No. 1 Bearing Support (72-32-41,01-240)

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Put the No. 1 bearing support on the work bench horizontally.

    4. Put two applicable blocks adjacent to the No. 1 bearing support to hold it.

    5. Align the two holes in the legs of the strainer housing with the 3 and 4 o'clock holes in the front of the No. 1 bearing support.

    6. Attach the oil jet assembly to the No. 1 bearing support and safety with the two screw bolts (01-140), nut (01-120) and washer (01-125).

    7. Torque the nuts to 85 to 105 lbfin (10.00 to 12.00 Nm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-40-440-055 Install the Bracket (72-32-41,01-100) to the Bracket A attached to the No. 1 Bearing Support

    2. Refer to Figure.

    3. Install the nut V2500-A5-71-32-41-01A-941A-D (72-32-41, 01-112) on to the bracket A of the No. 1 bearing support.

    4. Install the bracket V2500-A5-71-32-41-01A-941A-D (72-32-41, 01-100) to the bracket A and safety with the bolt V2500-A5-71-32-41-01A-941A-D (72-32-41, 01-110).

    5. Torque the bolt to 36 to 45 lbfin (4.00 to 5.00 Nm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-40-440-053-A00 Install the Oil Feed Tube in to the No. 1 Bearing Support (72-32-41,01-240) (Pre SBE 70-0114)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure

    3. NOTE

      The short straight end of the tube must be installed in the housing.

      Attach the inner clip (01-200), the outer clip (01-180) and the bushing (01-220) to the long straight end of the oil feed tube.

    4. Lubricate the new ENGINE-OIL JET AND OIL SUPPLY TUBE (72-32-42, 01-110) seal rings 2 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS.

    5. Install the two seal rings in to the grooves in the short straight end of the oil feed tube.

    6. Install the oil feed tube in to the strainer housing.

    7. Attach the IAE 1J12215 Setting fixture 1 off to the oil feed tube and the flange of the No. 1 bearing support. Refer to Figure.

    8. Align the pins of the setting fixture with the holes of the flange of the No. 1 bearing support, and the end of the oil feed tube with the hole of the setting fixture. Install the setting fixture tightly.

    9. Attach the clips (01-180 and 01-200) to the bracket V2500-A5-71-32-41-01A-941A-D (72-32-41, 01-100) and safety with the bolt ENGINE-NO.1 BEARING SUPPORT ASSEMBLY (72-32-40, 01-230).

    10. Torque the bolts to 36 to 45 lbfin (4.00 to 5.00 Nm).

    11. Remove the setting fixture.

    12. Make sure that the clips and the brackets are installed correctly. Refer to Figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-40-440-053-B00 Install the Oil Feed Tube in to the No. 1 Bearing Support (72-32-41,01-240) (SBE 70-0114)

    2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

    3. NOTE

      The tube has symmetrical straight ends. You can install the clips and the bushing on any side of the straight ends of the tube.

      Attach the inner clip (01-200), the outer clip (01-180) and the bushing (01-220) to the end of the oil feed tube.

    4. Lubricate the new V2500-A5-71-32-41-01A-941A-D (72-32-41, 01-110) seal rings 2 off with CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS.

    5. Install the two seal rings in to the grooves in the other side end of the oil feed tube.

    6. Install the oil feed tube in to the strainer housing.

    7. Attach the IAE 1J12215 Setting fixture 1 off to the oil feed tube and the flange of the No. 1 bearing support. Refer to Figure.

    8. Align the pins of the setting fixture with the holes of the flange of the No. 1 bearing support, and of the oil feed tube with the hole of the setting fixture. Install the setting fixture tightly.

    9. Attach the clips (01-180 and 01-200) to the bracket V2500-A5-71-32-41-01A-941A-D (72-32-41, 01-100) and safety with the bolt ENGINE-NO.1 BEARING SUPPORT ASSEMBLY (72-32-40, 01-230).

    10. Torque the bolts to 36 to 45 lbfin (4.0 to 5.0 Nm).

    11. Remove the setting fixture.

    12. Make sure that the clips and the brackets are installed correctly. Refer to Figure.
