Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-41-350-062 Prepare the No. 1 Bearing Support for the Coating

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Machine diameter 3. Hold to the maximum dimension.

      2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Clean the area to be coated, solvent wipe only.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

      1. Mask areas which are not to be coated. Grit blast or over-spray is not permitted in holes.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

        2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Dry grit blast the surface to be coated using aluminum oxide grit.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

        2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Thoroughly clean the surface of all dirt, grit, grease or other foreign material, solvent wipe only.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

    3. Touch-up or replace masking, as necessary.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-41-350-063 Apply Plasma Coat to the Surface

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Plasma coat the designated area. Hold to the minimum dimension. Ensure that there is sufficient coating to permit finish machining. For Titanium alloy, gas shall be argon or helium or mixture of argon and helium.

      1. Visually inspect the coated area.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      1. Finish machine the coated surface to dimensions in referenced figure.

      1. Examine the part for run-out of coating, chipping and similar defects. These defects are not permitted.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      1. Do a dimensional check on the repaired area.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

        2. Refer to Figure.

    3. After the part has cooled, remove the masking material and residual adhesives.

    4. Examine the holes. Remove all foreign material. Chamfer edges of holes, as necessary. No chipping of the coating is permitted.
