This Repair scheme gives the procedure for plasma spraying the snap diameter of the rotor center shaft.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-324-057 Machine the Worn Snap Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Attach the rotor center shaft on a lathe, set the rotor center shaft to run true.

      2. Use a lathe.

      1. Grind the snap diameter to between 11.799 in (299.70 mm) and 11.788 in. (299.40 mm).

      2. Hold the diameter to the minimum for further repair.

      1. Visually examine the machined area.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-21-01-220-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-230-060 Examine the Rotor Center Shaft for Cracks

      1. Do a crack test.

      2. Cracks are not permitted.

      3. Refer to SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-120-053 Abrasive Blast the Rotor Center Shaft

      1. Mask off areas that are not to be plasma sprayed.

      1. Abrasive blast the rotor center shaft surface to be plasma sprayed.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-12-02-120-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-51-340-053 Apply Plasma Spray on the Snap Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Touch up masking if necessary.

      1. Apply plasma spray. Minimum diameter of 11.818 in. (300.16 mm) is required after plasma spraying.

      2. Refer to SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

      1. Grind the plasma sprayed snap diameter to between 11.8074 in. (299.910 mm) and 11.8063 in. (299.878 mm) with 63 microinches (1.6 micrometers) surface finish.

      2. Use grinding machine.

      1. Visually examine the rotor center shaft.

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Make a beehive symbol mark with the letter PS inside the beehive and mark VRS1283 adjacent to part number as shown.

      2. Make a permanent mark by the procedure given in SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.

      3. Use electrolytic permanent mark.
