Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-71-322-051 Machine the Damaged Surface Around Sleeve for the Link Arm Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Set-up and machine the damaged surface around sleeve of link arm to 0.381 in. (9.7 mm) minimum thickness.

        1. Machine only the minimum quantity of material to remove damage.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-71-220-147 Examine the Machine Surface Around the Sleeve of the Link Arm Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Measure and record the machined surface around the sleeve of the link arm.

      2. Use external micrometer.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-71-230-082 Examine the Link Arm Assembly for Cracks

      1. Do a fluorescent penetrant inspecion on the machined surface around the sleeve of the link arm.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-71-340-051 Plasma Spray the Surface Around Sleeve of the Link Arm Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Apply masking tape to the area which are not to given plasma spray.

      1. Abrasive blast the surface around the sleeve.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-01-340-501.

      1. Renew masking if necessary.

      1. Plasma spray the surface around the sleeve.

        1. Apply the plasma spray to a sufficient thickness which will permit the final machining of 0.3859 to 0.3937 in. (9.80 to 10.00 mm).

        2. The maximum thickness of the plasma spray must be 0.015 in. (0.38 mm).

        3. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-01-340-501.

      1. Remove masking tape and any over spray coat.

      2. Use non-meallic hand scaper.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-71-322-052 Machine the Surface Around the Sleeve of the Link Arm Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Set-up the link arm assembly.

      2. Use milling machine.

      1. Machine the surface around the sleeve of the link arm between 0.3859 and 0.3937 in. (9.80 and 10.00 mm).

        1. The minimum plasma spray coating thickness is 0.003 in. (0.076 mm).

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-01-340-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-71-220-148 Examine the Surface Around the Sleeve of the Link Arm Assembly

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Visually examine the coated area for chips, cracks, lifted material and coating that is not attached to the base metal.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-01-340-501.

      1. Dimensionally examine the surface around the sleeve.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-32-71-200-000 (INSPECTION-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-32-71-350-083 Identify the Repair

      1. Write VRS1324 adjacent to the part number.

        1. Mark a permanent mark by the procedure given in the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.

        2. Use a vibration peening method.

      1. Apply the chromate conversion coating to the marking.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503 (SUBTASK 70-38-02-300-002).
