Surface finish of the repair must be the same as the adjacent area.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.
Use abrasive stones or papers and/or fine files.
Scallop, make smooth and/or hand polish to remove the nicks, the scratches and the galls.
SUBTASK 72-32-91-350-052 Remove the Damage from the Splitter Fairing
Refer to TASK 72-32-91-200-000 (INSPECTION-000).
Visually examine the repaired area.
SUBTASK 72-32-91-220-057 Examine the Splitter Fairing
Make sure there are no cracks in the repaired area.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.
Fluorescent penetrant examine the repaired area.
SUBTASK 72-32-91-230-053 Examine the Splitter Fairing for Cracks
Use a clean cloth which is moist with degreasing fluid and make clean the repaired area.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.
Remove the grease with cold vapor.

Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-02-300-503.
Apply the chromate conversion coating with a brush to the repaired area.
SUBTASK 72-32-91-380-051 Apply the Surface Protection to the Splitter Fairing
Refer to Repair, VRS1441 TASK 72-32-91-300-003 (REPAIR-003).
Apply the heat resistant ES coating with a brush to the repaired area.
Refer to TASK 72-32-91-200-000 (INSPECTION-000).
Examine the coating surface.
