General
This Repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in the relevant inspection procedures (identified by the applicable part number) located in section 72-41-11.
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK numbers are in the Standard Practices and Manual (SPM).
If the damage are nicks, dents or scores the maximum depth of damage before material removal is 0.002 in. (0.051 mm) and you must remove damage to 2X depth to a maximum depth of 0.005 in. (0.127 mm)
If the damage is frettage the maximum depth of damage before material removal is 0.005 in. (0.127 mm) and you must remove damage to a maximum depth of 0.005 in. (0.127 mm).

Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.
The maximum depth to remove the damage must not be more than 0.005 in (0.13 mm).
The repaired area(s) diameter is to be 50 times the depth.
Remove small area(s) of damage as necessary.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501.
Remove sharp corners
Blend the area of repair.
Refer to SPM TASK 70-35-03-300-501. Use CoMat 05-020 WATERPROOF SILICON CARBIDE and/or CoMat 05-021 WATERPROOF SILICON CARBIDE.
Polish the repaired area in a circumferential direction to give a surface finish the same as the adjacent material.
Polish the area of repair.
SUBTASK 72-41-11-350-065 Remove the Damage

CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - YOU MUST USE SILICON CARBIDE TYPE ABRASIVE WHEELS, STONES AND PAPERS TO DRESS, BLEND AND POLISH THIS COMPONENT.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - DO NOT USE FORCE WITH MECHANICAL CUTTERS OR THE MATERIAL WILL BECOME TOO HOT.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - MAXIMUM SPEED FOR MECHANICAL TOOLS MUST NOT EXCEED 1000 REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU REMOVE MATERIAL, BLEND AND POLISH, TO MAKE SMOOTH, THAT NO SPARKS ARE PRODUCED.
CAUTION
TITANIUM COMPONENT - IF THE MATERIAL SHOWS A CHANGE IN COLOR, TO A DARKER THAN A LIGHT STRAW COLOR, THE COMPONENT IS TO BE REJECTED.Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-08-300-503, SUBTASK 70-11-08-300-001.
Chemically clean.

Swab etch the repair area(s).
