General
This repair must only be done when instruction to do so is given in 72-41-22 inspection/check.
This repair gives the procedure to vibro polish the HP compressor stage 7 stator vane.
The stage 7 stator vane must have been repaired, where necessary, and inspected before vibro polishing.
The stage 7 stator vane can only have this repair completed on it three times.
The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK numbers are in the SPM.

Use chemical cleaning equipment.
Remove the grease.
SUBTASK 72-41-22-110-054 Clean the Stage 7 Stator Vane
Refer to Figure.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-25-380-501.
The surface finish is to be 20 microinches (0.50 micrometers) maximum on a minimum of 70 percent of the surface area.
On the remainder of the surfaces the surface finish is to be between 20 microinches (0.50 micrometers) average and 32 microinches (0.80 micrometers) maximum.
Do not have more than 40 vanes for one cubic foot of the superfinishing media.
Use vibro polishing equipment.
Use one of the superfinishing media and one of the liquid compounds or the Keramo polishing media given below:

CAUTION
DO NOT ABRASIVE BLAST THE VANE AS IT IS A GLASS BEAD PEENED COMPONENT.Refer to Figure.
Refer to the SPM TASK 70-38-25-380-501.
Polish the surfaces in the area specified AB as given in the procedure.
The vane airfoil surfaces are to have a surface finish of 10 microinches (0.25 micrometers).
On the remainder of the vane the surface finish is to be 16 microinches (0.40 micrometers) maximum.
Do not have more than 40 vanes for one cubic foot of the superpolishing media.
Use vibro-polishing equipment.
Use one of the superpolishing media and one of the liquid compounds or the Keramo polishing media given below:

The surface finish is to be 20 microinches (0.50 micrometers) on a minimum of 70 percent of the surface area. On the remainder of the surfaces the surface finish is to be 20 microinches (0.50 micrometers) average and 32 microinches (0.80 micrometers) maximum.
Examine the surface finish of the vanes.

If this is the first time this repair has been completed on the vane vibro engrave a 1 in a triangle adjacent to the part number.
If this is the second time this repair has been completed on the vane vibro engrave /1 adjacent to the triangle.
If this is the third time this repair has been completed on the vane vibro-engrave /2 adjacent to the triangle.
Use vibro-engraving equipment.
Identify the repair.
