General

This repair must only be done when the instruction to do so is given in 72-41-22 Inspection/Check.

This repair gives the instruction to remove damage on the HP compressor stator vanes, stage 10 by material removal.

Not more than ten percent of stator vanes dressed to the maximum limit of this repair should be included in any one stator stage.

Stator vanes must be repaired as soon as damage or wear is monitored, to get back HP compressor efficiency and extend the stator vane life.

Material removal from the HP compressor stator vane airfoil fillet radius is not permitted.

When the depth of cut away material is more than 0.002 in. (0.05 mm), it is necessary to glass bead peen the HP compressor stator vane, stage 10, to restore the airfoil surface finish. Refer to REPAIR VRS6210, TASK 72-41-22-300-022 (REPAIR-022).

Stator vanes repaired in this procedure must be as near to their initial shape and surface condition as possible.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants refer to the IPC.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK/SUBTASK number are in the SPM.

Price and availability
