Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-320-059 Machine the Rear Inside Diameter Before Coating

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Machine diameter DM to the dimension given in the figure.

      2. Remove only the minimum quantity of material to get the dimension given in the figure. If the part was repaired on this diameter before, make sure you remove all the plasma spray coat.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-350-067 Mask All the Areas that are not to be Plasma Sprayed

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Mask all the areas that are not to be plasma spray coated.

      2. Do the procedure given in the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

No coating is permitted on the face of the flange.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-380-054 Grit Blast the Rear Inside Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Grit blast the rear inside diameter.

      2. Do the procedure given in the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-340-054 Apply Plasma Spray Coating to the Rear Inside Diameter

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Apply plasma spray coating to the rear inside diameter.

      2. Do the procedure given in TASK 70-34-03-340-50.

Apply a sufficient thickness of coating to get the final machining dimensions given in the figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-350-068 Remove the Mask and the Overspray Coating

    2. Refer to: Figure

    3. Remove the mask.

      1. Remove the overspray coating that is too much.

      2. Use a scraper that is not metal.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-320-060 Machine the Rear Inside Diameter

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Machine the plasma spray coating to the dimensions given in the figure.

      2. All dimensions apply when surfaces DF and DE are flat in 0.005 in. (0.127 mm) and diameters DH and DF maintain a clearance envelope of 25.210 in. (640.334 mm) and 28.226 in. (716.94 mm) in a free or held condition. Held contact is permitted only on surfaces DJ, DX, DE, DY and Diameters DH and DF. In a free condition, surfaces DJ and DE are flat in 0.010 in. (0.254 mm) and diameters DH and DF are between 25.173 and 25.239 in. (639.42 and 641.07 mm) and 28.197 and 28.263 in. (716.20 and 717.88 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-220-073 Examine the Rear Inside Diameter

    2. Refer to: Figure

    3. Examine the rear inside diameter to the dimensions given in the figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-11-350-069 Mark the Part

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Mark the repair number VRS3052 on the diffuser case adjacent to the part number.

      2. Mark the part by the procedures given in the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.

        Use the vibration peen method.
