General

This TASK gives the procedure to clean the No.4 bearing scavenge tube. For the other parts of the No. 4 bearing compartment tubes, refer to Cleaning-000 TASK 72-42-20-100-100.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK numbers are in the SPM.

Fig/item numbers in parentheses in the procedure agree with those used in the IPC. Only the primary Fig/item numbers are used. For the service bulletin alpha variants, refer to the IPC.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-20-110-198 Remove Unwanted Particles

      1. Remove unwanted particles. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-13-300-503.

      2. Cleaning of Components (long soak, for cobalt and nickel base alloys and heat and corrosion resistant steels).

      3. You can flush the inside of the tube with a solution given in SPM TASK 70-11-13-300-503.

      4. Do not put the tube fully into the solution.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-20-110-199 Remove Unwanted Particles

      1. Remove unwanted particles. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

      2. Moderate Cleaning

      3. Clean the outside of the tube only.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-20-110-200 Remove the Grease and Unwanted Particles

      1. Remove the grease and unwanted particles. Refer to SPM TASK 70-11-26-300-503.

      2. Solvent Cleaning (titanium and all other metals).

      3. Clean the outside of the tube only.
