Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-110-054 Clean the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct

      1. Clean the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-42-35-100-000 (CLEANING-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-350-053 Remove the Cracks from the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct

      1. Rout out cracks to remove the entire crack. There is no maximum quantity or length.

      2. You do not have to rout out cracks in the sheet metal. There is no maximum quantity or length for cracks.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-110-055 Clean the Repair Area of the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct

      1. Clean the area to be welded.

      2. Use a silicon carbide wheel.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-310-051 Weld the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct

      1. Weld the cracks in the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to Figure.

        Manual gas tungsten arc weld the cooling duct. Use CoMat 03-284 WELDING FILLER WIRE, NiBASE.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-230-052 Examine the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct after Weld Repair

      1. Fluorescent penetrant inspect the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-370-051 Stress Relieve the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct

      1. Stress-relieve the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-37-01-370-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-230-053 Examine the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct

      1. Fluorescent penetrant inspect the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-01-230-501 or SPM TASK 70-23-02-230-501. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-220-063 Do a Hardness Check on the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct

      1. Do a hardness check on the parent material adjacent to the welded area.

      2. The hardness must be Rockwell C36 minimum or equivalent.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-350-054 Blend the No. 4 Bearing Front Cooling Duct after Weld Repair

    2. Refer to Figure.

      1. Blend the weld repaired areas to the contour of the adjacent areas.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-35-21-350-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-35-220-057 Examine the Repair

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    3. Examine the cooling duct after repair.
