Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-42-61-350-075 Remove the Damaged Liner (Bulkhead) Segment

      NOTE

      It is not necessary to remove the access cover if the fuel nozzle guide retainers are not being replaced.

    1. Refer to Figure.

      2. Remove the fuel nozzle guide.

      1. Refer to Repair, VRS3095 TASK 72-42-61-300-007 (REPAIR-007).

      3. Remove the nuts, washers and bushing.

      1. Use IAE 3P17046 Torque Adapter 1 off to remove the nuts.

    4. Remove the damaged segment.

    2. SUBTASK 72-42-61-220-130 Examine the Shell for Damage

      1. Examine the shell for cracks, burns and wear.

      1. Use a white light and 3X magnification.

        If there are any cracks or burns, or if the thickness of the shell is less than 0.030 in. (0.762 mm) refer to Repair, VRS3091 TASK 72-42-61-300-003 (REPAIR-003).

    3. SUBTASK 72-42-61-350-076 Install the Replacement Liner (Bulkhead) Segment

    1. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    2. Install the replacement segment.

    3. Install the washers and the bushing.

      4. This procedure is optional. You can increase the Bushing ID to 0.194 in. (4.93 mm) diameter maximum, if necessary to prevent interference.

      1. Visually examine bushing ID hole in white light and 20X magnification. No cracks are permitted.

      5. CAUTION

        DO NOT USE COMAT 10-049 MOLYBDENUM DISULFIDE TO LUBRICATE THE NUT THREADS. MOLYBDENUM DISULFIDE CAN CAUSE CORROSION.

        Install new nuts.

      1. Use CoMat 10-077 APPROVED ENGINE OILS on segment threaded studs.

      2. Install the nuts with IAE 3P17046 Torque Adapter.

      3. Tighten nuts down on the stud between 40 to 50 lbfin (4.519 to 5.649 Nm) of torque and make sure that the washer is not free to move. Back the nut off one-half turn, then use IAE 3P17046 Torque Adapter to torque the nut to 25 to 35 lbfin (2.824 to 3.954 Nm).

      6. Install the fuel nozzle guide.

      1. Refer to Repair, VRS3095 TASK 72-42-61-300-007 (REPAIR-007).
