Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-43-30-110-057 Clean the No. 4 Bearing Rear Cooling Duct

      1. Clean the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to TASK 72-43-30-100-000 (CLEANING-000).

    1. SUBTASK 72-43-30-350-051 Remove the Cracks from the No. 4 Bearing Rear Cooling Duct

      1. Route out cracks to remove the entire crack. There is no maximum quantity or length.

      2. Cracks in the sheet metal do not have to be routed. There is no maximum quantity or length for cracks.

    1. SUBTASK 72-43-30-110-058 Clean the Repair Area of the No. 4 Bearing Rear Cooling Duct

      1. Clean the area to be welded.

      2. Use a silicon-carbide wheel.

    1. SUBTASK 72-43-30-310-051 Weld the No. 4 Bearing Rear Cooling Duct

      1. Weld the cracks in the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to Figure.

        Manual gas tungsten arc weld the cooling duct.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-31-13-310-501.

      1. Fluorescent penetrant inspect the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-43-30-370-051 Stress-Relieve the No. 4 Bearing Rear Cooling Duct

      1. Stress-relieve the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-37-01-370-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-43-30-220-057 Examine the No. 4 Bearing Rear Cooling Duct

      1. Examine the diameters of the cooling duct.

      2. Refer to Figure.

    2. Blend the weld repaired areas to the contour of adjacent areas.

      1. Do a hardness check on the parent material adjacent to the welded area.

      2. The hardness must be Rockwell C36 minimum or equivalent.
