General

You must do the rework on the stage 1 HPT blade assembly given in TASK 72-45-14-840-001, SBE 72-0242, REWORK 001 before or at the same time as you do the rework given in this procedure.

You must do the rework on the stage 1 HPT duct segments given in TASK 72-44-60-840-002, SBE 72-0241, REWORK 002 at the same time you do the rework given in this procedure.

The practices and processes referred to in the procedure by the TASK number are in the SPM.

Refer to the indicated Service Bulletin for specific application requirements.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-320-071 Machine the Stage 1 HPT Cooling Duct Assembly (01-010)

      1. Set up and machine 16 holes to 0.213 - 0.223 in. (5.41 - 5.66 mm) diameter.

      2. Refer to Figure, Figure and Figure.

      1. Set up and machine two holes to 0.196 - 0.206 in. (4.98 - 5.23 mm) diameter.

      2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-350-067 Adjust the Airflow of the Stage 1 HPT Cooling Duct Assembly (01-010)

      1. Do a modification to get the airflow level of 2A3180. Add plug welds as necessary. The required flow parameter is 1.152. The required average is 1.533.

      2. Do the procedure given in TASK 72-44-50-300-010, VRS3177 (REPAIR-010).

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-230-055 Examine the Stage 1 HPT Cooling Duct Assembly (01-010)

      1. Fluorescent penetrant inspect the duct.

        1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-03-230-501.

        2. No cracks are permitted.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-350-068 Identify the New Stage 1 HPT Cooling Duct Assembly (01-010)

      1. Make a mark adjacent to the old part number to show the new part number. Use the vibration peen method.

        1. Number before - 2A2141-01.

          New number - 2A3180-01.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-350-069 Identify the New Turbine Nozzle Group

      1. When you assemble the new turbine nozzle group (which includes the new stage 1 HPT cooling duct assembly and the new stage 1 HPT duct segments), identify the new turbine nozzle group. Make a mark adjacent to the old part number to show the new part number. Use the vibration peen method.

        1. Number before - 2A4300.

          New number - 2A8600.

        2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.
