Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-330-054 Remove the Coating by Stripping

      NOTE

The stripping procedure is only for TOBI ducts that were repaired per VRS3307 before. If this procedure was done before, VRS3307 will be next to the part number. If the repair was not done before, remove the coating by machining. Refer to Step.
    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Strip to remove the coating from Diameter L.

      2. Apply a mask to the areas not to be coated.

Strip the coating by the procedure given in the SPM TASK 70-33-78-300-503.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-320-058 Remove the Coating by Machining

    2. Refer to Figure and Figure.

      1. Machine to remove the coating from Diameter L.

      2. Apply a mask to the areas not to be coated.

Machine the diameter to 13.010 to 13.024 in. (330.45 to 330.81 mm).

Remove the minimum quantity of material possible to keep the limits.

When you remove the coating by machine, the surface will be shiny when the coating is removed.

        NOTE

If the measured dimension in a free condition is not satisfactory, a held condition is permitted. All dimensions apply when Surface N is flat by 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) and Diameter L maintains a clearance envelope of 13.040 in. (331.22 mm) diameter in a free or held condition. In a free condition, Surface N must be flat by 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) and Diameter L must be 13.008 to 13.059 in. (330.40 to 331.70 mm). Hold the duct only on Surfaces N, M and W, and Diameter L.
    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-340-054 Plasma Spray the Front Snap Diameter

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Plasma spray the front snap diameter.

      2. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-34-03-340-501.

        No overspray is permitted.

The thickness of the plasma spray must be 0.010 to 0.030 in. (0.254 to 0.762 mm).

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-320-055 Machine the Front Snap Diameter after Plasma Spray

    2. Refer to: Figure

      1. Machine the front snap diameter after plasma spray.

      2. Machine the dimension to 13.033 to 13.039in. (331.038 to 331.191 mm).

The minimum thickness of the plasma coat must be 0.003in. (0.076 mm) after machining.

Break the edges 0.003 to 0.015in. (0.076 to 0.381 mm).

        NOTE

If the measured dimension in a free condition is not satisfactory, a held condition is permitted. All dimensions apply when Surface N is flat by 0.002in. (0.051 mm) and Diameter L maintains a clearance envelope of 13.040in. (331.216 mm) diameter in a free or held condition. In a free condition, Surface N must be flat by 0.005in. (0.127 mm) and Diameter L must be 13.008 to 13.059in. (330.40 to 331.70 mm). Hold the duct only on Surfaces N, M and W, and Diameter L.
    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-220-107 Examine the Repair

    2. Refer to: Figure

    3. Do a dimensional and visual inspection on the plasma spray area.

    1. SUBTASK 72-44-50-350-065 Identify the Repair

      NOTE

If VRS3307 is marked on the duct, it is not necessary to do this procedure.
      1. Mark VRS3307 adjacent to the part number.

      2. Make a permanent mark by the procedure given in the SPM TASK 70-09-00-400-501.

        Use the vibration peen method.
