Preliminary Requirements

Procedure

1. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-062 Remove the Nuts and the Bolts of the Stage 7 Disk

   1. 

      CAUTION

      HOLD THE BOLTS IN THEIR POSITION IF YOU LOOSEN AND REMOVE THE NUTS FROM THE BOLTS. DO NOT TURN THE BOLTS OR MAKE TO AND FRO MOVEMENTS. THE DISK/INNER AIR SEAL FLANGES AND THE BOLTS CAN BE DAMAGED BY SCORES.

   2. 

      WARNING

      DURING DISASSEMBLY DO NOT BREATHE DUST OF THE LOOSENED BOLTS. PREVENT SKIN AND EYE CONTACT WITH RELEASED DUST. THE DUST CONTAINS NICKEL PARTICLES WHICH CAN POSE A HEALTH HAZARD. BEFORE DISASSEMBLY LUBRICATE ACCESSIBLE BOLTS AND BOLT HEADS, NUTS AND EXPOSED THREADS WITH AN APPROVED, SUITABLE PENETRANT OIL. WEAR A FACE MASK AND GOGGLES. DO NOT REMOVE DUST DEPOSITS WITH COMPRESSED AIR. REMOVE ANY SURFACE DUST PARTICLES WITH A DISPOSABLE DAMP RAG OR SIMILAR. AFTER END OF THIS PROCEDURE CLEAN YOUR HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN WHERE POSSIBLE.

      Loosen all 36 nuts and bolts which attach the stage 7 disk front flange to the stage 6 disk rear flange.

   3. Remove all 36 nuts. Use the IAE 1M14055 Special wrench 1 off.

   4. Remove the bolts and the balancing weights.

   5. Discard the removed bolts and nuts.

2. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-063 Attach the Support Bolts to the Assembly/Disassembly Fixture

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Install the IAE 1M14064 Support bolt 3 off into the holes of the IAE 1M14063 Guide fixture 1 off. Attach the bolts with the washers and the nuts. Tighten the nuts.

3. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-064 Install the Hydraulic Basic Fixture

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Install the support plate, part of the IAE 1M14065 Hydraulic basic fixture 1 off, to the thread of the hydraulic cylinder. Attach the support plate with the lock nuts.

   3. Engage the hydraulic basic fixture onto the support bolts. Move the hydraulic basic fixture in the highest groove on the support bolts. Turn it to lock the hydraulic basic fixture on the support bolts.

4. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-065 Attach the Lifting Fixture onto the Stage 7 Disk

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. NOTE

      Measure the inner hub diameter before you install the lifting fixture:

      NOTE

      1. If the inner hub diameter is 12.595in. (319.9 mm) use IAE 1M14060 Lifting fixture.

      2. If the inner hub diameter is 12.441in. (316 mm) use IAE 1M14463 Lifting fixture.

      Use hoist equipment to install the IAE 1M14060 Lifting fixture 1 off or the IAE 1M14463 Lifting fixture 1 off. Make sure that the clamps of the lifting fixture are locked in the inner position.

   3. Hoist the lifting fixture above the LP turbine case and rotor.

   4. Lower the lifting fixture carefully on to the stage 7 disk, engage the front end of the guide tube through the guide fixture.

   5. Loosen the hand knobs.

   6. Move the clamps on the fixture to the outer direction. Attach the clamps with the hand knobs. Tighten the hand knobs.

5. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-066 Remove the Stage 7 Turbine Disk

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Connect the IAE 1F10026 Hydraulic hand pump 1 off onto the hydraulic basic fixture.

   3. Operate the hydraulic basic fixture with the hydraulic pump to push off the stage 7 disk.

   4. Use hoist equipment and lift the stage 7 disk with the lifting fixture from the LP turbine case and rotor.

   5. Lower the stage 7 disk on the IAE 1M14030 Assembly trolley 1 off.

   6. Loosen the hand knobs of the lifting fixture. Move the clamps into the inner position. Remove the lifting fixture from the stage 7 disk. Remove hoist equipment.

6. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-067 Attach the Clamping Ring to the Stage 7 Disk

   1. Refer to Figure.

   2. Install the two halves of the IAE 1M14155 Clamping ring 1 off to the stage 7 disk.

   3. Connect the two halves with the single acting ball lock pin.

   4. Attach the clamping ring with the hand knob. Tighten the hand knob.

7. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-068 Turn the Stage 7 Disk

   1. Use hoist equipment to install the IAE 1M14156 Lifting fixture 1 off to the clamping ring.

   2. Lift and turn the stage 7 disk. Install the disk again on the assembly trolley, the rotating airseal in top position.

      1. 

         CAUTION

         HOLD THE BOLTS IN THEIR POSITION IF YOU INSTALL THE NUTS ON TO THE BOLTS. DO NOT TURN THE BOLTS OR MAKE TO-AND-FRO MOVEMENTS. THE DISK-/INNER AIRSEAL FLANGES CAN BE DAMAGED BY SCORES.

         Install six work bolts and nuts to safety the airseal on the disk. Tighten the nuts.

      2. Put the stage 7 disk on a rack pallet.

   3. Remove the hoist equipment and the lifting fixture.

   4. Loosen the hand knob and disconnect the single acting ball lock pin. Remove the two halves of the clamping ring from the stage 7 disk.

8. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-069 Remove the Hydraulic Basic Fixture

   1. Disconnect the hydraulic pump from the hydraulic basic fixture.

   2. Turn the hydraulic basic fixture to release the fixture from the support bolts.

   3. Move the hydraulic basic fixture downwards and disengage it from the support bolts.
