Preliminary Requirements

Procedure

1. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-100 Install the Hydraulic Basic Fixture

   1. Turn the IAE 1M14065 Hydraulic basic fixture 1 off to loosen it from the IAE 1M14064 Support bolt 3 off.

   2. Move the hydraulic basic fixture downwards to the groove for the stage 4 disk on the support bolts.

   3. Turn the hydraulic basic fixture to attach the fixture at the support bolts.

2. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-101 Remove the Nuts of the Stage 4 Disk

   1. 

      CAUTION

      HOLD THE BOLTS IN THEIR POSITION WHEN YOU LOOSEN AND REMOVE THE NUTS FROM THE BOLTS. DO NOT TURN THE BOLTS OR MAKE TO-AND-FRO MOVEMENTS. THE DISK-/INNER AIR SEAL FLANGES AND THE BOLTS CAN BE DAMAGED BY SCORES.

   2. 

      WARNING

      DURING DISASSEMBLY DO NOT BREATHE DUST OF THE LOOSENED BOLTS. PREVENT SKIN AND EYE CONTACT WITH RELEASED DUST. THE DUST CONTAINS NICKEL PARTICLES WHICH CAN POSE A HEALTH HAZARD. BEFORE DISASSEMBLY LUBRICATE ACCESSIBLE BOLTS AND BOLT HEADS, NUTS AND EXPOSED THREADS WITH AN APPROVED, SUITABLE PENETRANT OIL. WEAR A FACE MASK AND GOGGLES. DO NOT REMOVE DUST DEPOSITS WITH COMPRESSED AIR. REMOVE ANY SURFACE DUST PARTICLES WITH A DISPOSABLE DAMP RAG OR SIMILAR. AFTER END OF THIS PROCEDURE CLEAN YOUR HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN WHERE POSSIBLE.

      Loosen all the 36 nuts and bolts which secure the stage 4 disk front flange to the stage 3 disk rear flange.

   3. Remove all the 36 nuts with the IAE 1M14055 Special wrench 1 off.

   4. Remove the bolts and the balancing weights.

   5. Discard all bolts and nuts that are removed.

3. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-102 Install the Lifting Fixture on to the Stage 4 Disk

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Use hoist equipment to install the IAE 1M14059 Lifting fixture 1 off. Make sure that the clamps of the lifting fixture are locked in the inner position. Install the three teflon bolts in to the holes which are marked with the stage number of the disk to be removed.

   3. Hoist the lifting fixture above the LP turbine case and rotor.

   4. Lower the lifting fixture carefully on to the stage 4 disk, engage the front end of the guide tube through the IAE 1M14063 Guide fixture.

   5. Loosen the hand knobs.

   6. Move the clamps on the fixture to the outer direction in the identified position. Attach the clamps with the hand knobs. Tighten the hand knobs.

4. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-103 Remove the Stage 4 Disk

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Operate the hydraulic basic fixture with the IAE 1F10026 Hydraulic hand pump 1 off to push off the stage 4 disk.

   3. Use hoist equipment and lift the stage 4 disk with the IAE 1M14059 Lifting fixture from the LP turbine case and rotor.

   4. Lower the stage 4 disk on the IAE 1M14030 Assembly trolley 1 off.

   5. Loosen the hand knobs of the lifting fixture. Move the clamps in to the inner position. Remove the lifting fixture from the stage 4 disk. Remove the hoist equipment.

5. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-104 Attach the Clamping Ring to the Stage 4 Disk

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Install the two halves of the IAE 1M14080 Clamping ring 1 off to the stage 4 disk.

   3. Connect the two halves with the single acting ball lock pin.

   4. Attach the clamping ring with the hand knob. Tighten the hand knob.

6. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-105 Turn the Stage 4 Disk

   1. Use hoist equipment to install the IAE 1M14156 Lifting fixture 1 off to the clamping ring.

   2. Lift and turn the stage 4 disk. Install the disk again on the assembly trolley, the rotating airseal in the top position.

   3. 

      CAUTION

      HOLD THE BOLTS IN THEIR POSITION WHEN YOU INSTALL THE NUTS ON TO THE BOLTS. DO NOT TURN THE BOLTS OR MAKE TO-AND-FRO MOVEMENTS. THE DISK/INNER AIRSEAL FLANGES CAN BE DAMAGED BY SCORES.

      Install six work bolts and nuts to hold the airseal on the disk. Tighten the nuts.

   4. Put the stage 4 disk on rack pallet.

   5. Remove the hoist equipment and the lifting fixture.

   6. Loosen the hand knob and disconnect the single acting ball lock pin. Remove the two halves of the clamping ring from the stage 4 disk.

7. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-148 Remove the Hydraulic Basic Fixture

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Disconnect the hydraulic pump from the hydraulic basic fixture.

   3. Turn the hydraulic basic fixture to loosen it from the support bolts.

   4. Loosen and remove the lock nut. Remove the hydraulic cylinder from the support plate.

8. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-149 Remove the Support Bolts from the Assembly/Disassembly Fixture

   1. Refer to: Figure

   2. Loosen and remove the three support bolts from the IAE 1M14010 Assembly/Disassembly fixture.

9. SUBTASK 72-50-10-030-199 Move the Lifting Ring

   1. Move the lifting ring of the IAE 1M14010 Assembly/Disassembly fixture 1 off from the 'zero-position' into the 'lifting-position' with the use of the lever.
