NOTE

The ACC mounting boss must not be removed from the LP turbine case if only individual rivets are defective and must be replaced.

Procedure

    1. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-086 Remove the Damaged or Worn Rivets

      1. Remove the rivets.

      1. Refer to Fig. 72-50-21-990-001.

        Drill or grind off heads.

        Do not damage LP turbine case druing this procedure.

        Do not damage the ACC mounting boss if an individual rivet is to be replaced.

        Hit through remaining parts of rivet shafts.

        Use minimum force to prevent damage of the LP turbine case.

    2. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-087 Remove the ACC Mounting Boss

      1. Remove the ACC boss.

      1. Refer to Fig. 72-50-21-990-001.

        When all four rivets are removed, the ACC mounting boss is separate from the case.

    3. SUBTASK 72-50-21-230-093 Examine the Local Surfaces for Cracks

      1. Do the test for cracks.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-23-05-230-501.

        Use medium sensitivity level.

        No cracks are permitted.

    4. SUBTASK 72-50-21-110-094 Clean the LP Turbine Case

      1. Clean the LP turbine case.

      1. Refer to the SPM TASK 70-11-03-300-503.

    5. SUBTASK 72-50-21-220-146 Examine the Rivet Holes for Wear

      1. Dimensionally examine.

      1. Refer to Fig. 72-50-21-990-001for maximum dimensions.

    6. SUBTASK 72-50-21-390-051 Assemble the Replacement Parts

      1. Assemble the ACC mounting with rivets.

      1. Make sure that the mounting boss is aligned correctly before installation.

        Attach the mounting boss with the rivets to the LP turbine case.

        Refer to the SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.

    7. SUBTASK 72-50-21-350-088 Insert the Insert (01-050) in the ACC Mounting Boss

      1. Install the screw thread insert if removed.

      1. Refer to VRS4049, TASK 72-50-21-300-026 (REPAIR-026) and Figure.

    8. SUBTASK 72-50-21-220-147 Do the Post Repair Inspection

      1. Visually examine the quality after machine riveting. Make sure that the parts are correctly attached.

      1. For acceptance standards refer to the SPM TASK 70-39-03-390-501.
